KSSG wanted a software solution that could populate its own non-production systems with valid test data at any time. In the past, KSSG used system copies to create test data, which resulted in long runtimes with many data inconsistencies, and SAP Basis staff had to deal with a lot of pre- and post-processing. What is special about this project is the need to provide consistent and valid data to multiple clients (multi-client functionality).
solution
KSSG uses SNP Test Data Manager (TDO) in its SAP ERP/IS-H environment. TDO is used to provide non-production SAP systems (test, development and training systems) with selective, anonymous and consistent data from production systems. Selective migration makes it possible to reduce the size of the target system.
TDO's high degree of automation reduces the time required to provide test data. TDO's masking feature ensures sensitive data is protected from unauthorized access. Special masking functions can be used to mask existing test systems or test systems set up using system copies.
Using TDO, master and transactional data can now be transferred from the source system to the target system without any further preparation or follow-up work, such as interface adjustments, logical system conversions (BDLS run) or adjustments to authorizations. The software solution also improves data consistency, enhances test quality, and significantly reduces run times compared to system copies.
The introduction of the software took only four days. During the two-day training course, the SAP team at KSSG acquired the theoretical knowledge to use TDO themselves in the future.
