College Introduction
The predecessor of the School of Automation, Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology was the Department of Computer and Information Engineering established in 1993. In 2006, the School of Information and Control was established through the adjustment of the school departments. In September 2018, it was renamed the School of Automation. The college currently has six undergraduate majors: automation, measurement and control technology and instruments, electrical engineering and automation, data science and big data technology, robotics engineering, and mechatronics engineering; Electronic information master's degree authorization point, electronic information (big data technology and engineering) professional degree authorization point in cooperation with the University of Reading in the United Kingdom (Reading College-Sino-foreign cooperative education), and electronic information master's degree in cooperation with Southeast University of Technology in Ireland Professional degree authorization point (Watford College-Sino-foreign cooperative education), mechanical master's degree authorization point; it has a second-level doctoral program in environmental perception and intelligent control. In 1998, the college was approved as a second-level discipline master’s degree point in system analysis and integration. In 2005, it was approved as a second-level discipline master’s degree point in system theory. In 2006, it was approved as a first-level discipline degree point for a master’s degree in systems science. In 2014, it was approved to control Master's Degree in Engineering. System Science, Instrument Science and Technology were approved as key disciplines by China Meteorological Administration in 2008. Since 2011, the college has received continuous project support from superior disciplines in Jiangsu Province. Control Science and Engineering has been approved as a key discipline of Jiangsu Province during the 13th Five-Year Plan and a key discipline of Jiangsu Province during the 14th Five-Year Plan. In 2010, the major of automation was selected as the characteristic major of Jiangsu Province. In 2012, the automation category (automation, measurement and control technology and instrumentation major) was approved for the construction of key professional categories in the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" colleges and universities in Jiangsu Province, and the automation major was selected into the Excellent Engineer Program of Jiangsu Province.
