1. Inner Mongolia University

School Profile

Inner Mongolia University is located in Hohhot, the capital of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and a famous historical and cultural city, more than 400 kilometers away from Beijing. It is the first comprehensive university established by the party and the state in ethnic minority areas after the founding of the People's Republic of China. The school was founded from a high starting point in 1957. Ulanhu, then Vice Premier of the State Council and Chairman of the Autonomous Region, was the first president (1956-1968). Yu Beichen, former deputy director of the Department of Comprehensive Universities of the Ministry of Higher Education, was the vice president. Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a famous biologist, Mr. Li Jitong, a first-level professor at Peking University and a Ph.D. at Yale University, came to the school to teach and serve as academic vice president. The party and the government selected a group of well-known subject leaders and academic backbones from more than a dozen well-known domestic universities such as Peking University to form a high-level teaching staff in the early days of the school's establishment, bringing the long-standing scholarly traditions and lofty university spirit accumulated by famous schools to the school. Subsequent development has laid a solid foundation for running a school and excellent academic style and school spirit.

The school enrolled graduate students in 1962 and was identified as a national key university in 1978. It was awarded the right to confer doctoral degrees in 1984. In 1997, it was approved as a key construction institution of the national "211 Project". In 2004, it became a "national key university" of the People's Government of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and the Ministry of Education. It is a university jointly built by the province and the ministry. In 2012, it was selected into the national "Central and Western Universities Improvement Comprehensive Strength Plan" ("one province, one school"). In 2017, it was selected into the national first-class discipline construction university. In 2018, it became a joint venture between the Ministry of Education and the People's Government of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It will be selected into the second round of the country’s “Double First-Class” construction universities in 2022.

College Introduction

The predecessor of the School of Electronic Information Engineering of Inner Mongolia University was the Department of Electronics established in 1979. It was the first electronics department established in a university in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. In 1994, the major of communication engineering was added, and in 1995, the major of automation was added. In March 2008, the Department of Electronic Engineering and the Department of Automation merged to form the School of Electronic Information Engineering, which covers two first-level disciplines: Information and Communication Engineering and Control Science and Engineering. The college consists of three departments: Communication Engineering Department, Electronic Information Science and Technology Department, and Automation Department; and two management centers: Experimental Teaching Management Center and College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Practice Center. There are 3 undergraduate majors: electronic information science and technology, communication engineering and automation, all of which are first-class undergraduate majors in the autonomous region. There is an autonomous region key cultivation discipline "Signal and Information Processing", an autonomous region experimental teaching demonstration center "Electronic Information Technology Experimental Teaching Center", and an autonomous region-level engineering research center "Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Electronic Engineering Technology Research Center". The college has one first-level academic master's degree conferral program "Information and Communication Engineering" and one professional master's degree conferment program in electronic information, covering two engineering fields: "Communication Engineering" and "Control Engineering".

The college currently has 45 faculty members, including 9 professors and 17 associate senior professional titles; 1 doctoral supervisor and 28 master's supervisors. There are 21 teachers with doctorate degrees, all from domestic "double first-class" construction universities, accounting for 52.5% of full-time teachers; among the teachers, there is 1 second-level person in the "New Century 321 Talent Project" of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, 2 rookies in the autonomous region's teaching circles, and school-level teachers. There are 2 famous teaching teachers; 1 autonomous region-level teaching team "Automation Professional Basic Course Teaching Team", 1 school-level scientific and technological innovation team "Model Information Intelligent Processing" research team. Some teachers serve as directors of the Fifth China Youth Science and Technology Workers Association Information and Electronic Science Committee, executive directors of China Educational Simulation Technology Professional Committee, IEEE ComSoc Member, IEEE SPS Member, etc.
