School Profile
East China University of Science and Technology was formerly known as East China Institute of Chemical Technology. In 1956, it was designated as one of the first schools to recruit graduate students in the country. Since 1960, it has been designated as a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. In 1993, it was renamed East China University of Science and Technology with the approval of the State Education Commission. The school's discipline setting covers 11 disciplines including science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, economics, management, literature, law, art, philosophy, and education. There are currently 31 first-level discipline master’s degree authorization points, 17 master’s professional degree authorization points; 18 first-level discipline doctorate degree authorization points, and 5 doctoral professional degree authorization points. It has 8 national key disciplines, 10 Shanghai key disciplines, and 7 first-class disciplines in Shanghai universities. "Chemical Engineering and Technology" is the first major in a Chinese mainland university to pass the ABET certification, and "Chemistry" is the first major in a Chinese mainland university to pass the Sino-Russian joint international science professional certification. Eight disciplines including chemistry, material science, engineering, biology and biochemistry, pharmacology and toxicology, agricultural science, computer science, and environmental ecology have entered the top 1% of ESI worldwide, and chemistry has entered the top 1‰ of the world.
College Introduction
The School of Information Science and Engineering of East China University of Science and Technology was established in 1997, and its earliest history can be traced back to 1958. At that time, the East China Institute of Chemical Technology was the first to establish the undergraduate major of chemical automatic control in China. In 1962, the major of automatic control recruited graduate students. In 1965, the major of chemical automation recruited graduate students. In 1981, the major of industrial automation was awarded the first batch of doctoral and master's degree granting disciplines in China. In 1985 In 2001, it became a member unit of the Automatic Control Discipline Appraisal Group of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council. In 2001, it was approved to establish a control science and engineering postdoctoral mobile station. In 2003, it was approved to establish a first-level discipline of control science and engineering. Approved as a national and Shanghai key discipline. In 2012, the control theory and control engineering discipline was approved to be a first-class discipline in Shanghai universities. In 2017, process industry intelligent manufacturing entered the national "double first-class" construction discipline. In 2019, automation and computer majors were selected as national first-class undergraduates In 2021, the information engineering major was selected as a national first-class undergraduate major.
