Agile defect tracking management

Defect management usually focuses on the following aspects:

1. Defect processing speed

2. Status of defect handling

3. Distribution of defects

4. The cause of the defect

Using the Leangoo Agile Kanban, we can manage defects visually, so that we can see at a glance the progress, person in charge, current status, distribution and other aspects of the defect.

Let's learn how to manage and track defects using agile tools .

1. Understand the progress and status of defects

In Leangoo, we can create one or more defect management boards for a project or product. Create a defect board in the project and fill in the name of the board, as shown in the figure below:

After the defect kanban is created, the system will automatically create several lists, which generally represent the status of defects. On the Kanban board, you can also customize the list according to your needs. As shown in the figure below, we divide the status of the defect into four states: the latest submission to be confirmed, confirmed to be repaired, repairing, and completed. There are four states in total. Through the circulation of the list, It allows the team to intuitively understand the progress and status of defects. Then add defect cards to each list, one card for each defect.

The following figure shows a defect example kanban:

2. Designate a responsible person for the defect

We can designate a person in charge for each defect card. On the right side of the board, drag the member's avatar onto the card to designate the person in charge. The person in charge can receive the task through WeChat, email or the system site remind.

Click on the avatar to remove the person in charge directly, or you can filter tasks by members, etc. As shown below:

You can also open the card and click "Member" to set the person in charge of the defect, as shown below:

3. Edit defect content

When the content of the defect is relatively small, just click the add card below the list to edit it. If there are many defects, for more convenient editing, you can open the card and edit it in the card panel. We can add more information in the card, such as: defect start and deadline, comments, check items, tags, etc. If there are relevant screenshots for defects , you can upload defect screenshots, or add attachment links, or associate defects with related requirements, and prioritize defects through tags.

As shown below:

Defects are planned to be fixed in the iteration kanban

Usually, the defects of the current iteration are recommended to be placed on the iteration kanban of the current iteration, and repaired before the end of the iteration.

"Defect Kanban" usually contains defects left after release, defects reported by customers, etc.

During the Sprint sprint, we not only need to make relevant user stories, but also need to solve the defects that arise during this process. Therefore, we can plan the defects on the defect kanban into the Sprint when planning the Sprint.

Click "sprint planning" and drag the defects that have been determined to be fixed to the corresponding iteration Kanban.

4. Classify, filter and count defects

1) Classify by different Kanban

If the product or project is large and different modules or subsystems are responsible for different teams, then a defect board can be established for each team. In addition, you can set a cycle for Kanban, such as a monthly cycle, to regularly analyze the cause and distribution of defects, and the speed of defect processing by the team.

2) Classify by label

In leangoo, we can customize the label for each card, which can be the defect level, defect type or module, etc. Select the tag filter on the Kanban board to view only the cards and quantity statistics under this tag.

View defect distribution

Defect distribution statistics can show the distribution of tasks under each list in the defect kanban in the project through different dimensions (workload, number of cards).

To sum up, Leangoo is a professional agile development management tool that provides end-to-end agile R&D management solutions, covering agile requirements management, iteration management, defect management, task collaboration, progress tracking, statistical measurement, etc., visualized through Kanban Defect management is not only convenient and fast, but also helps us discover problems and bottlenecks and optimize team efficiency
