Ubuntu 18.04 server installation (detailed installation tutorial)

Early preparation:

  1. Prepare one to create an empty folder (for the purpose of installing a virtual machine, personal habits)

     2. Prepare the ubuntu 18.04 iso service version image file

Next, let's start the installation!

1. Open the virtual machine VMware workstations (16pro is used here)

Click Home - Create a new virtual machine

2. In the [New Virtual Machine Wizard] select the configuration type, select "Custom (Advanced)" and click Next:

3. The hardware compatibility here will automatically identify the version of this virtual machine and click "Next" directly:
If the version here does not match the version of your own virtual machine, select the corresponding version!

4. Select "Install the operating system later" for the installation source, and then proceed to the next step:

5. Click "Lnux" in "Select Client Operating System"
and select the version "ubuntu 64-bit" and then the next step:

6. Customize this virtual machine in "Named Virtual Machine" (for easy identification).
I will name it "Ubuntu service 18.04" here
and select the location to store the virtual machine (the empty file path prepared in advance)
   and then the next step:

7. The processor configuration here is set according to my own needs.
I installed it for learning. There is no rigid need, so I choose the default and
   go to the next step:

8. For the memory setting here, select the recommended memory "4G" and the performance will be moderate.
Then go to the next step:

9. Select "NAT" mode in "Network Type"
and continue to the next step:

10. Select "LSI Logic" for "I/O Controller Type" here,
and then go to the next step:

11. Here "Select Disk Type" select "SCSI"
    and then the next step:

12. Here "Select Disk" select "Create a new virtual disk"
      and then the next step:

13. Here, "specify disk capacity" can be selected by default according to personal needs.
(I am used to storing virtual disks as a single file for later management and troubleshooting.) There
is no big problem with what to choose here

14. Here the default is enough (the file storage path is placed in the prepared empty folder by default, it is not a big problem)
      directly to the next step:

15. The virtual machine has been customized and created successfully.
Don't rush to complete it! !
     Click on "Automatic Hardware"

     16. Click "New CD/DVD (SATA)" on the hardware setting interface
, then click "Use ISO image file", then browse and select the prepared image file
     to close:

17. The virtual machine has all been installed!
     Click "Finish"

At this time, you can see the new virtual machine on the virtual machine page:

Next, start setting up each part of the virtual machine:

1. Open the virtual machine ubuntu service 18.04

2. Jump to the language selection interface
, here use the up and down keys to select the language, here select English
    and then Enter (carriage return)

3. On this page, you need to choose to update the installation program
   , select "continue without updating"
and select Enter with the up and down keys:

4. The default setting of the keyboard here is good.
Press the up and down keys "Done" to complete
    the Enter (carriage return):

5. Here are the network connection instructions
. Create a virtual machine and select NAT. The system has assigned an IP by default. You don’t need to modify it,
   just press
the up and down keys "Done"
   Enter (carriage return):

6. Select the proxy server here. You just selected the NAT mode to connect to the external network,
   so you can press the
   up and down keys "Done"
   Enter (carriage return) by default:

 7. Here, select the default value of the mirror address (automatic identification) and then
press the up and down keys "Done"
      Enter (carriage return):

8. Here is the storage configuration by default.
Press the up and down keys "Done"
   Enter (carriage return):

9. Here is the automatic allocation of storage configuration
   by default, you can
press the up and down keys "Done"
   Enter (carriage return):

10. Here are the tips before installing the disk defragmentation

     Up and down keys "Continue"
     Enter (carriage return)

11. Set your own account password here
     and
press the up and down keys "Done"
     Enter (carriage return)

12. Configure ssh settings
If you need to log in remotely through ssh, you can set
the default no here (it doesn’t matter if you don’t set it here, you can open the service and modify the configuration file connection when you use ssh later), so you can use the up and
     down
    keys “Done”
    Enter (back to car):

13. Install the service configuration here, skip it and directly use the up and down keys to select "help"-"Enter shell"
     .

14. Enter the terminal, and the installation is complete! !
