American payment giant Stripe today announced the appointment of former data streaming company Confluence CFO Steffan Tomlinson as the company's CFO.

Steffan has over 25 years of operating in the US financial industry, notably with Confluence, Google Cloud and Palo Alto Networks.

Stripe co-founder and president John Collison said, “We’ve been fortunate to grow tremendously alongside our users over the years, but when you look at how much inefficiency still exists in online commerce, it’s clear we’re only just getting started. Getting started. Steffan has a proven track record of optimizing financial engines for high-growth and highly-disciplined organizations, and I look forward to working with him to help drive user growth for years to come."

“From the beginning, a developer- and product-led business has been at the core of my career, and I have long been impressed by Stripe’s relentless focus on users and the enduring business it has created,” said Steffan. I'm excited about the opportunity to expand Stripe's finance business as Stripe continues to meet the changing needs of users."

Founded in 2010 by Irish brothers Patrick and John Collison, Stripe builds payment software solutions that enable merchants to accept digital payments in different currencies.

Stripe's total revenue is about $14.4 billion in 2022 and about $11.7 billion in 2021, the sources said. Stripe will lose more than $500 million in 2022.

The market has been rumored that Stripe is planning to go public, but it is difficult for Stripe to go public in 2023, mainly because it needs to pay huge taxes related to the imminent expiration of employee restricted stock units (RSU).

In early 2023, there will also be senior staff changes at Stripe. Former Stripe CFO Dhivya Suryadevara resigned. She said at the time, "I joined the company two and a half years ago to help the company accelerate its growth trajectory. I am proud of the company's achievements. Now, I have to make a difficult decision to resign from Stripe. duties, as I need some time to attend to family matters."

This also means that after nearly half a year, Stripe has found a suitable CFO again.
