ZIGBEE market size
Many friends may wonder, how big can the ZIGBEE market be? How many companies can you support? Through repeated communication through multiple channels, the global scale of the ZIGBEE market is expected to be ~300 million pieces, and the domestic market does not include OEMs, which is estimated to be ~30 million pieces;

Domestic cores, each showing their special abilities
Domestic companies that make ZIGBEE chips mainly fall into three categories:
The first category, which is also the most mainstream, is the original private 2.4G protocol or Bluetooth chip;
The second category, the core team with overseas experience came out to do it;
The third category is to be a WiFi company and expand the product line;
For these three types of companies, there are two main technical points to overcome, one is the hardware, and the other is the protocol stack; at present, the hardware is basically a Bluetooth company, and it can do it; the protocol stack will be more challenging and can meet compatibility and High performance protocol stack;

Domestic ZIGBEE chip
Telink, Telink Micro, should be the most mature and largest domestic ZIGBEE chip company; Telink used to be more of a ZIGBEE terminal node. With the release of TLSR921x, it has completed its layout on the Router side;
PHYPLUS, Fengjiawei, used to be mainly engaged in Bluetooth chips. In July 2021, it released the ZigBee 3.0 authentication protocol stack, PHYPLUS-zb-stack, and chip PHY6226; the ambition is relatively large. In addition to ZIGBEE, it also launched ZIGBEE+BLE , the mark of Matter;
Espressif, Espressif Technology, everyone supports Espressif as the leader of IoT WiFi. In 2021, we also saw Espressif’s move to the end-side layout, and released a chip that supports 3-mode integration (ZIGBEE, Thread, BLE5.2), Rich resources and complete features; it has been released for a while, but the chip has not yet been launched on the homepage, and friends who know the situation can communicate in a small window;
Bouffalo Lab , Boliu Smart, is also a start-up company that started with WiFi. Seeing the BL602 WiFi chip released by it, the RF capability should be good; BL702 is also a Zigbee, Thread, BLE three-in-one chip with built-in 132KB SRAM , up to 144MHz 32-bit RISC core;

How to choose
For personal selection, it is recommended to adopt a four-look strategy. Domestic chips are still in the process of iterative optimization, and they are fully prepared to enter the pit.
Take a look : whether the chip has a large customer to import mass production, from this point of view, Telink should be the only choice at present;
Second look : whether the core R&D personnel of the protocol stack have experience in large-scale mass production, or to put it bluntly, are they the core developers of Silabs, TI, NXP and other major manufacturers?
