Kaiyuanshe was officially established in KCC (Kaiyuanshe City Community) in Silicon Valley ! As an important initiative of the Open Source Society, KCC@Silicon Valley will become a bridge for international open source exchanges and a link between China and the global open source community.

Since 2023, Kaiyuanshe has observed that after the epidemic, members of the open source community are eager to resume face-to-face communication and gatherings. This is good news for the open source community that has long been operating online and working together remotely. Communication helps strengthen cooperation, share knowledge, and promote innovation; at the same time, in the " 2022 China Open Source Annual Report " , we also summarized the accumulation and thriving development of domestic open source projects, and some projects already have global influence and global vision . In this context, open source projects from China began to go abroad, and Silicon Valley became the preferred place to go overseas .

On May 31, 2023, Emily Chen, chairman of Kaiyuanshe, came to Silicon Valley to meet Yue Chen, senior vice president of technology strategy/planning from Futurewei, Anni Lai, head of open source operations and marketing, and Plug & Huan Li, Play's investment partner, held an open source luncheon on a sunny day in Silicon Valley. Everyone exchanged ideas around the development trend of Chinese and international open source communities, discussed the similarities and differences of open source at home and abroad, the changing trend of open source in China in the past two decades, the contributions of open source communities in China and specific implementation measures, and the development of open source projects. Commercialization, support for better development of early open source projects, and the latest development of ChatGPT and LLM and how open source organizations contribute to it, everyone spoke freely and sparked.

In addition, Kaiyuanshe was also invited to visit the office of Ant Group in Silicon Valley . Had an exchange with Ailing Teng (@小狼), a founding member of Kaiyuanshe and North American strategy director of OceanBase, an ant group database, and reviewed the story of like-minded people building an open source community from 0 to 1 since 2014; discussed He discussed the development of open source in China in the past ten years, especially the impact on Internet companies ; discussed in depth the similarities and differences between China and Silicon Valley in terms of open source and business environments, and how Chinese companies can better achieve globalization and commercialization in the future .
