Spring Framework 6.1 M1 has been released.
The highlights are as follows:
- Support for JDK 21 LTS
- Support for virtual threads (Virtual Threads)
- JVM Checkpoint recovery
- Data Binding and Validation
The announcement reads that the Spring Framework 6.1 runtime provides "first-class citizen" support for JDK 21 and Jakarta EE 10, while retaining the JDK 17 and Jakarta EE 9 baselines. It also features the latest version of GraalVM for JDK 17 and its upcoming JDK 21, while maintaining compatibility with GraalVM 22.3.
Finally, the first milestone version of Spring Boot 3.2 released in July will be based on Spring Framework 6.1, and the official recommendation is to try it out as soon as possible.
