1. Make a boot U disk

1. Download Ventoy software

Go to Ventoy official website to download Ventoy software ( Download . Ventoy ) as shown in the interface

2. Make a boot disk 

Select the appropriate version and platform after downloading, decompress it, and enter the folder after decompression, as shown on the left side of the figure below, double-click to open Ventoy2Disk.exe, the interface on the right side of the figure below will appear, select the U disk you need to make a boot disk , and then click Install and wait for the installation to succeed, then you can successfully make a bootable USB flash drive.

 After the production is completed, the device will be displayed in the device and driver as shown in the figure below

3. Place the image file

 At this time, you need to go to the mirror website to download the relevant mirror image, and put it directly into the newly created boot disk anywhere.

2. System installation steps

Note: Because the server in the installation steps in this article uses an AMD motherboard, the boot interface during installation is an AMD icon, not an advertisement.

1. Boot up

After the server is powered on, you will see the boot interface as shown in the figure below. Because the AMD motherboard supports IPMI control, the address displayed on the interface is the IPMI control address, not the local IP address.

 2. Shortcut keys

When the interface as shown in the figure below appears, we see a few lines of small characters under the icon, and we press the F11 button to enter the startup item selection interface. (other brands of motherboards should be set according to the actual situation)

 3. Startup item selection

Go to the startup item selection through the previous step, as shown in the figure below, because my U disk is CoolFlash, so find the CoolFlash U disk option, among which we will see that there are two U disk options, and USB#0 is the normal mode , and the other is UEFI mode. UEFI needs device support. In this article, we choose the installation method of UEFI mode. However, there is no essential difference between these two installation methods in the subsequent installation process.

 4. Enter the boot U disk interface

After selecting the UEFI mode to enter, we can see the Ventoy’s U disk boot interface, as shown in the figure below, because the system installed in this article is CentOS7.9, so we choose this image file to enter, and you can install it according to the system you want Enter.

 5. Enter the installation option

After selecting the appropriate image, the system installation step option appears, as shown in the figure below, the default selection bar is on the second line where Test is located, and we need to use the up button on the keyboard to select the Install option.

 6. Language selection

After selecting the installation, the language selection interface is entered. In this article, the default English language is selected, as shown in the interface below. If you want other languages, you can choose your favorite language. Then click Next to proceed to the next step.

 7. Required option settings

After selecting the language and clicking Next, we will enter the interface for setting some necessary options, as shown in the figure below, the 1234 marked in the picture is the option set in this article. 1 is time zone setting, 2 is software setting, 3 is hard disk partition setting, 4 is host name and network setting.

 8. Time zone setting

After selecting the time zone setting, the interface as shown in the figure, we directly click on the map of China, the time zone setting will automatically change to Shanghai, China, and then click the Done button in the upper left corner to complete the time zone setting, and the interface will return to the seventh step .

 9. Software settings

After selecting software settings, the interface is shown in the figure below. There are many ways to choose from. In this article, GNOME Desktop is selected on the left. After selection, all options on the right of 3 can be selected, which can avoid some inexplicable subsequent use. The problem. After setting, click the Done button in the upper left corner to complete the software setting, and the interface will still return to the seventh step interface.

 10. Hard disk partition settings

After selecting the hard disk partition setting option, the interface is shown in the figure below. After entering, we select the hard disk that needs to be partitioned. In this article, we choose a 2T solid-state hard disk, and then choose manual partition ( I will configure partitionirg ), if you don’t want to manually partition , you can choose Automatically configure partitioning.

 After selecting the hard disk and manual partitioning, click the Done button in the upper left corner to enter the partitioning step link, the interface is shown in the figure below. This is when we see that there is no partition display, we need to click  the sign in the lower left corner to add partitions.

 After clicking Add, the selection of the partition name and the setting of the partition size will appear. First set the swap partition, set the size of 128GiB in this article, and then set the boot partition, set 2048MiB, and the remaining space is given to the root directory / , the specific setting results are shown in the figure below.

 After setting, click the Done button in the upper left corner to return to the seventh step interface.

11. Host name setting

The interface after selecting the host name setting is as shown in the figure below. Change the Host name in the lower left corner to a name you like or have a meaningful name. In this article, because our self-owned brand is Fengzhi, we choose its initial letter fz in pinyin, and then click Apply . Finally, click Done in the upper left corner to complete the setup. The network is not set in this article, the default is fine.

12. Set user and user password

When you click Done in the previous step, you still return to the interface of the seventh step. At this time, the Begin Installation on the interface becomes a clickable button. We clicked to start the installation and went to the user and user password setting steps, as shown in the figure below

 Click ROOT PASSWORD to set the root user password, as shown in the figure below.

 Click USER CREATION to set the common user and user password, as shown in the figure below

After the setting is complete, as shown in the figure below, just wait quietly for the installation to end. At this time, you can go to drink a cup of coffee to refresh your mind.

 After the installation is complete, the interface is shown in the figure below, and a Reboot button appears in the lower right corner. Click the Reboot button to restart the computer or server.

 After restarting, an authorization interface appears, as shown below

 After clicking LICENSE INFORMATION, the following interface appears

 After selecting the option at the bottom, click the Done button in the upper left corner to return to the previous interface, as shown in the figure below

 13. The installation is complete

Then click the EINISH CONFIGURATION button in the lower right corner to complete the installation of CentOS7.9. After clicking Finish, you will enter the user login interface, as shown in the figure below.
