Chainlink Spring 2023 Hackathon Winners Announced

The Chainlink Spring 2023 Hackathon demonstrates that Web3 innovation is accelerating at an unprecedented pace.

With more than 14,000 registrants and a record number of entries submitted by 498 projects from more than 100 countries, the hackathon surpassed all previous ones. Now is the best time to build applications in Web3, and the easiest time: Participants of the Chainlink Spring 2023 Hackathon have ample resources to bring their ideas to life. A trend we saw at this hackathon: about 40% of registrants had little or no experience building applications with blockchain technology .

We sincerely thank all the participants, judges, sponsors and mentors who participated in the hackathon for their hard work and support. Thanks to everyone's joint efforts, the Chainlink Spring Hackathon 2023 has set a record for the largest Chainlink hackathon ever.

Here are the winning projects from this hackathon.

Hackathon Awards

This spring, more than $400,000 in prize money was distributed among the following categories:

  • top award
  • Technology Benefit Award (2)
  • NFTs and Game Awards
  • DeFi Awards
  • artificial intelligence will
  • Chainlink Service Award (3)
  • DAO Awards
  • Women in Technology Awards
  • High-quality project prizes (40)

Top Prize ($25,000)

SecureChain

The top prize of the Chainlink Spring 2023 Hackathon was awarded to Securechain , a hybrid transfer verification system designed to protect NFTs and tokens in hot wallets from wallet-specific attacks. Built by independent developer Eduard Lopez, Securechain takes a hybrid Web2/Web3 approach, utilizing Chainlink Functions to create a two-factor authorization process for transferring digital assets.

In building Securechain, Lopez proposed two new EIP standards to help support secure transfers. By using Securechain, users can migrate assets from a "normal" state to a "secure" token (and vice versa). When a transfer request is initiated for a security token, Securechain uses Chainlink Functions to post the transfer request to the Securechain application, and the user can then approve the transfer through the web application.

Technology for Good Award ($20,000)

The Tech for Good Award honors projects that leverage blockchain and Chainlink oracle technology to create social impact. This spring, two prizes were awarded, with a first-place prize of $15,000 and a second-place prize of $5,000.

DREx ($15,000)

The first place award in the Tech for Good Award went to the DREx project, a platform that connects solar developers, companies with potential project sites and investors to accelerate the creation of solar projects. The team, made up of developers Joselyne Del Rosario, Tomás Cordero, Shobhit Goyal, Ahron Sotomayor, and Trevor Chan, worked with an operating solar farm in Ecuador as a proof of concept.

DREx uses data from solar installations in Ecuador to tokenize their energy output, creating Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs). These RECs are then tokenized into e-NFT bonds that represent decentralized ownership of solar projects and can leverage DeFi in applications . The project uses Chainlink Any API to fetch data from solar installations and IoT devices.

Agrosurance ($5,000)

The second place award in the Tech for Good Award went to the Agrosurance project, a decentralized and transparent insurance platform for farmers . Developed by developers Yash Goyal, Riya Jain, Spandan Barve, and Ishpreet KaurBedi, the project leverages Chainlink Functions to fetch real-time data from external data sources, calculate insurance premiums, and verify claims that are then settled by smart contracts.

NFTs and Game Prize ($15,000)

Data NFT for Data Licensing

The DataNFT for Dataset Licensing project , developed by developers Ricky Yuen, Fei Lin, and Charles Cao, enables data owners to tokenize their datasets into NFTs for increased control over data access and usage. By embedding licenses in these DataNFTs, owners can set parameters regarding the scope, duration, and terms of use of the data to better protect their intellectual property. The project also aims to enable data owners to license their datasets for new revenue.

DataNFT for Dataset Licensing uses Chainlink Functions to verify ownership of platform assets and connect the platform to users (or LLMs) who wish to license data. This ultimately creates a minimal trust process designed to verify license ownership, as well as generate and distribute data licenses.

DeFi Prize ($15,000)

Prompt DeFi

Prompt DeFi is a user-friendly platform that simplifies DeFi applications by allowing users to perform actions through simple text input or voice commands. Created by developers Anastasiia Kondaurova and Kyrylo Orlov, Prompt DeFi uses account abstraction to remove user-facing network fees and leverages the ChatGPT AI model trained to process transactions based on text or voice prompts.

For example, by using Prompt DeFi, new DeFi users can execute transactions with simple text prompts, such as "exchange 1 ETH to wBTC" or "deposit 1BTC to Aave and lend 10,000 USDT". Prompt DeFi also uses Chainlink Automation to process trades with conditions (i.e. limit orders).

AI Prize ($15,000)

StoryChain

StoryChain is a decentralized application created by developer Cem Ad that enables users to collaboratively author AI-generated stories, where each chapter belongs to a different user. When starting a story, the creator defines the genre, chooses the artificial intelligence for story and image generation, and other users continue the narrative by reading previous chapters and providing their own hints.

Each page of the story is minted as a unique NFT owned by a contributor and viewable on OpenSea, a project that uses Chainlink Functions to connect applications to various artificial intelligence models.

Chainlink Service Award ($13,000)

The Chainlink Service Award is awarded to the top three projects that improve the Chainlink network, integrate Chainlink into infrastructure, or enable developers to simplify the use of Chainlink's Web3 services platform.

Maven ($7,000)

Maven , a platform co-founded by Yash Jagtap, 0xthresh, Geoffrey Millar, Merdi Kimuha, Shobhit Sundriyal, enables social media agencies to manage Lens profiles on behalf of clients. The project leverages abstract accounts to provide a secure way for agencies to publish content on behalf of their clients without the risk of profile theft.

Additionally, Maven enables institutions and Lens users to automatically coordinate payments based on smart contracts. These payments are based on measurable metrics provided by the Lens API, such as likes, interactions, etc., and passed to the application through the Chainlink Any API.

Chainiversity ($4,000)

Chainiversity is an interactive, blockchain-based learning platform designed to foster a more active and engaged Chainlink developer community. Co-developed by Muhammed Mustafa Savar and Ege Aybars Bozkurt, Chainiversity offers a gamified learning experience divided into three levels, each focused on a different Chainlink service. The project verifies smart contract development directly on the chain, and provides developers with soul-bound NFT certificates as rewards after successfully completing the corresponding level.

Vernari Protocol ($2,000)

Vernari is a decentralized third-party guarantee agreement that connects smart contracts with Shippo e-commerce logistics software to provide digital asset payment functions that minimize trust for store merchandise. Smart contracts are used as third-party guarantees for digital asset payments and are automatically released after verification of tracking information.

Built by independent developer Jon Gregis, Vernari uses Chainlink Functions to interface with Shippo's data to verify that items have been shipped, and Chainlink Automation to trigger payments.

DAO Award ($10,000)

The DAO (Private PAO)
The DAO (or Private PAO) is a DAO framework that solves the privacy problem in DAO operations. This is due to the inherent characteristics of the blockchain, which has led to the historical DAO operations being transparently recorded in the chain. superior. Built by developers Nguyen Pham, Nguyễn Dương, Phạm Văn Nam, and Tan Phan, The PAO utilizes zero-knowledge circuits to provide unparalleled privacy for the DAO's funding and voting process, and Chainlink Automation to help trigger all autonomous operations within the DAO framework, Improve operational efficiency.

Women in Tech Award ($10,000)

Super Cool AI

SuperCool AI is a generative AI-based NFT marketplace that generates NFTs based on AI-generated tips and inputs. Users can use AI to generate personalized profile pictures, game assets, or Metaverse characters, and simply mint the images into NFTs. The app is powered by Chainlink oracle services: VRF helps with randomly changing prompts/results, Automation is used to trigger dynamic NFT changes, and Price Feeds is used to determine the exchange rate for the payment process.
