1 Preparations

Install VM virtual machine, prepare Install_macOS_Monterey_12.5 image, darwin1012.iso (VMware Tools), unlocker unlock tool

2 Unlock the VM virtual machine

The default VM virtual machine does not support macOS installation, we need to unlock the virtual machine to support macOS! Before unlocking, completely exit the VM virtual machine, and in the system task manager, end the VM-related processes.

After the Unlocker is decompressed, enter the Windows folder, right-click the administrator to run unlock, the console window will pop up, the video interface will appear, and the unlocking will begin. After completion, it will prompt Press Enter key to continue, press Enter to complete! At this point, the unlocking of the VM virtual machine is complete!

3 Create a new virtual machine

  1. First, open the main interface of VMWare Workstation;

  2. Click "Create New Virtual Machine" on the main interface to open the "New Virtual Machine Wizard" interface;

  3. On the "New Virtual Machine Wizard" interface, select "Custom", and then click "Next";

  4. On the "Hardware Compatible" page, usually the default settings are sufficient, click the "Next" button;

  5. On the "Install the guest operating system" page, check "Install the operating system later" and click "Next";

  6. On the "Select Guest Operating System" page, check "Apple Mac OS", if the second step of unlocking operation appears, you need to complete this operation; in the "Version" drop-down list, select the correct version according to your system image (Example: macOS Monterey 12), then click "Next";

  7. On the "Name the virtual machine" page, fill in the name of the virtual machine you want, and select the location where you want to store the virtual machine files, and then click "Next";

  8. On the Processor Configuration page, select the number of processors and cores you want to assign to the virtual machine. Note that the number of processors and cores should match the actual configuration of your physical machine so as not to affect the performance of the virtual machine. When finished, click "Next";

  9. On the Virtual Machine Memory page, select the amount of memory you want to allocate to the virtual machine. Likewise, the memory size should match the actual configuration of your physical machine. When finished, click "Next";

  10. On the "Network Type" page, usually the default NAT mode can meet most usage scenarios. When finished, click "Next";

  11. On the Controller Type and Disk Type pages, the default settings are usually fine. When finished, click "Next";

  12. On the "Select Disk" page, check "Create a new virtual disk" and click "Next";

  13. On the Disk Capacity page, set the disk capacity you want to allocate to the virtual machine. 80G is a more appropriate capacity, but it can also be adjusted according to your needs. When finished, check "Store virtual disk as a single file" and click "Next";

  14. On the "Specify Disk File" page, the default settings are fine, and then click "Next";

  15. Finally, click the "Finish" button and wait for the virtual machine to be created.

4 Install mac OS system

On the VM main interface, select the virtual machine created in the previous step, click Virtual Machine Settings, and in the virtual machine settings interface, select the CD/DVD option, check the use ISO image file on the right, and click Browse to add our prepared macOS Monterey 12 System mirroring, make sure to return to the main interface.

In the VM main interface, select our newly created virtual machine, click to open this virtual machine, and the Apple LOGO loading image will appear to start the installation. Wait for a while and the language interface will pop up, select Simplified Chinese, and click the arrow to continue. On the Apple recovery interface, Click Disk Utility to perform partitioning operations on the disk. On the Disk Utility interface, select the topmost disk on the left, click Erase on the right, and the setting interface will pop up. Customize the name and other defaults. Continue to click Erase to perform the partition operation! After the partition is complete, close the Disk Utility interface, return to the recovery page, select Install mac OS, and click Continue. After continuing again, agree to the terms, select the disk you just partitioned, continue as usual, and the system starts to install! The next step is to wait patiently, the process may be a bit long!

After the manager restarts several times, enter the Mac OS system boot interface, follow the prompts to set up step by step, there is no difficulty, just watch me operate!

After successfully entering the Mac OS system, we still have the last task, which is to install VMware Tools for the system. This is an enhanced tool, and the specific functions will not be described in detail. The most intuitive function allows us to connect between physical machines and virtual machines. In the meantime, copy the copy file normally! When the Mac OS system is running, right-click on the desktop to launch the system installation image, the VM main interface menu bar, virtual machine-install VMware Tools, and the VMware Tools installation interface pops up on the desktop, double-click to install VMware Tools to run the installer, and you will be prompted to enter during the installation process Password, we enter the system password set when installing the system, prompting that the extension is blocked, we click to open the system security preferences, security and privacy interface, click the lock icon in the lower left corner, and prompt to enter the password again, we enter the password to unlock, and Allow VMware, the system will prompt to restart, after restarting the computer, the mac OS installation is complete! During the installation process, a "System extension has been blocked" dialog box may pop up. At this point, please click the "Open Security Preferences" button.

Click the lock icon you want to modify to unlock the preferences, then enter the system login user password, and finally click the "Unlock" button.

You need to allow "VMware, Inc."'s system software to load. Please click the "Allow" button to ensure VMware Tools works properly.

When the VMware Tools installation is complete, you need to restart the virtual machine. Please click the "Restart" button for VMware Tools to take effect.

On a Windows host, dragging a file into a virtual machine prompts an extension forbidden error message. To fix this, open System Preferences → Security & Privacy in the Mac virtual machine and click the lock icon to make changes. Check "vmware-tools-daemon" in the "Accessibility" option.

Finally, you will need to enter your login password again for the changes to take effect.
