Announcing major version 8.0 of the Proxmox virtual environment! It is based on the excellent Debian 12 "Bookworm", but uses an updated Linux kernel 6.2, QEMU 8.0.2, LXC 5.0.2 and O penZFS 2.1.12.

Introduction to Proxmox VE

As we said before, Proxmox VE is an open source server virtualization platform that is very powerful but overshadowed by hypervisors like VMware ESXi and KVM. Its free and open-source nature makes it a great option for home labelers and SMBs that have needs that differ from other larger businesses.

Proxmox virtual environment

Compute, network and storage integrated in a single solution.

Proxmox VE is a complete, open source enterprise virtualization server management platform. It tightly integrates KVM hypervisor and Linux containers (LXC), software-defined storage and networking capabilities on one platform (sysin). With an integrated web-based user interface, you can easily manage virtual machines and containers, high availability for clusters, or integrated disaster recovery tools.

Enterprise-grade features and a 100% software-based focus make Proxmox VE the perfect choice for virtualizing your IT infrastructure, optimizing existing resources and increasing efficiency with minimal expense. You can easily virtualize even the most demanding Linux and Windows application workloads and dynamically scale compute and storage as your needs grow, ensuring your data center can accommodate future growth.
