Centos7 installation tutorial

Installation prerequisite: you need to install a virtual machine and download the ios file with centos7 in advance

 Installation process:

  1. Turn on the virtual machine and start entering the create virtual machine wizard
  2. Select the image file downloaded in advance
  3. Create login user
  4. Configure where the operating system is to be installed
  5. some memory and processor for the operating system
  6. Choose network connection method
  7. Configure virtual machine disk size
  8. complete configuration

Note: Except for the above operations that require your own additional configuration, select the default for others, and then go to the next step.

  • Turn on the virtual machine and start entering the create virtual machine wizard

  • Select the image file downloaded in advance

  • Create a login user (in addition to the user you created yourself, centos7 also comes with a root user with the same password as the user you created yourself)

Configure the place where the operating system is to be installed (when the size of the C drive is not enough, it is recommended to install it in other custom file directories)

  • Some memory and processors of the operating system: it is recommended to allocate 2G for common use

  • Choose network connection method

Bridging: By using a physical machine network card with a separate ip

NAT: Turn the physical machine into a router for Internet access

host-only : can only be connected to a physical machine

Detailed introduction:

Bridge mode (bridged):

In bridged mode, the operating system virtualized by VMWare is like an independent host in the LAN, which can access any machine in the network. The IP addresses of the host NIC and the virtual NIC are in the same network segment, and parameters such as subnet mask, gateway, and DNS are the same.

This method is simple, directly bridging the virtual network card to a physical network card, which is similar to binding two different addresses to a network card under linux. In fact, the network card is set to promiscuous mode, so as to achieve the ability to listen to multiple IPs. In this mode, the network card inside the virtual machine (such as eth0 under linux) is directly connected to the network where the physical network card is located. It can be imagined that the virtual machine and the host machine are in the same position and equal in network relationship. There is no question of who is behind whom.

Advantages: You don’t need to manually assign the IP address and subnet mask yourself, as long as the host machine can access the network, he can (note that the virtual machine can ping the host machine, but the host machine cannot ping the virtual machine)

NAT mode:

Using NAT mode can realize accessing the Internet in the virtual system. It is to let the virtual system use the NAT (Network Address Translation) function to access the public network through the network where the host machine is located.

Host-Only:

In Host-Only mode, the virtual network is a fully closed network, and the only thing it can access is the host. In fact, the Host-Only network is very similar to the NAT network. The difference is that the Host-Only network does not have NAT service, so the virtual network cannot be connected to the Internet. The communication between the host and the virtual machine is realized through the VMware Network Adapter VMnet1 virtual network card.

  •  Configure virtual machine disk size

  • complete configuration

This is the successful installation interface
