This competition is highly recognized in our school, almost every school has a high degree of recognition, and it is one of the most recognized competitions in China . Our school starts publicity work in the second semester of the sophomore year. Students who need to participate in the competition must choose the elective course "Mathematical Modeling and Scientific Computing" and study mathematical models systematically before they can participate.
The key step is to choose teammates. The golden combination of digital and model teammates: liberal arts majors + mathematics majors + computer majors, liberal arts majors are responsible for writing and typesetting papers, mathematics majors are responsible for modeling, and computer majors are responsible for programming . But my teammates didn't stick to any of these three majors , and we still succeeded . It is good to have the above collocations, but more teams are actually blind collocations. It mainly depends on whether the friends are willing to learn, this is the most important thing!
I do programming in the team, and I use Matlab software for systematic learning , but I also use many other software, such as SPSS, Python, eviws, state, R, etc. Because some questions are solved with this special software, the accuracy of the results is very high . It has also been used in so many simulations and competitions. As long as it is needed, it can be learned and sold now, but Matlab is still used more.
Programming starts from 0, and learns from March to September. Although it is not very good, it is enough. Here I learned all the model courses in "Mathematical Modeling and Scientific Computing" , and then went to learn the complete matlab video, starting from a beginner step by step. Modeling students specialize in modeling, read more than 100 national first-class papers over the years , and learn how others model to solve problems, and the schoolmate who wrote the paper systematically learned Latex typesetting skillsand the language expression and format of the paper.
In the first half of the second semester of my sophomore year, I have been studying each subject. At that time, I bought a lot of materials, software and so on, and the three of us worked very hard together and spent many days sorting out the materials.

In the second half of the term, the school organized a school competition with a duration of 15 days . The time is really long, but there are still classes, and for novices like us, we are confused and don't know how to start when we get the questions. This is a common problem of many students. We used the first three days to select topics. At the beginning, because we didn’t know how to do it, we could only find relevant literature for each topic. If there are many literatures, we will choose this topic , and if there are few literatures, we will pass. In this way, we can refer to more things. .
After the topic is selected, discuss with the modeler how to solve it, what model to use, which documents to refer to, and demonstrate step by step. After the argument is completed, tell her the detailed logic of writing the thesis, draw up an outline, and let her know how to write it. . She is quite tired of writing papers, so we don't let her participate in solving problems, and save her energy for writing papers. I have to revise some points that differ from our views later, so she is really tired, and I feel sorry for her.
We are probably in this mode. The modeler and I often clashed, and even quarreled a few times, but after a few hours, we all calmed down and continued to discuss. The teammates did not hold grudges. During the 15 days of this school competition, he was the teammate I was looking for. As a result, the two fell in love. After the official announcement of the summer vacation, I found out that I was a matchmaker once and a light bulb for several months. School-level first prize.
During the summer vacation, the school organized group training. Because of the epidemic, it was only available online. We started to do simulations on 7.15, and simulated 3 times, each time with an interval of about 10 days, and ended on 8.25. Each simulation is carried out according to the normal competition for 3 days, and the questions are issued on time at 6 pm and handed in at 8 pm on the last day. This is the tradition of our school.
During the simulation, we have a lot of new problems, because the official simulation time is only 3 days. Generally, the topic should be determined on the morning of the first day at the latest, 4/5 of the topics should be made before the evening of the second day, and the first draft on the third day After completion, it takes half a day to modify and submit before 8:00 pm.
Due to time constraints, we simulated for the first time, the topic was too difficult to do, and it took a day and a half in vain, and we were forced to change the topic. We had almost used up all the energy in the early stage, and we had to change the topic to do it again, which was uncomfortable and powerless. But in the end, we stayed up all night to rush out, which also exercised our ability to persevere. The first simulation is over.
In the second and third simulations, everything went smoothly, and the tacit understanding between the teammates was almost perfect. The summer vacation is spent in the simulation, and then sent to the tutor, the tutor will hold a meeting, give you suggestions, what areas can be improved, etc.
Finally, in September, when the junior year starts, it will be the official competition. As usual, I discuss the logic of thinking with the modeler, draw up a rough outline, and then see how the programming results are. If it can be realized, Just explain it to the thesis writer. She started writing. On the last day, something went wrong. We checked the paper and found that some parts of the logic were wrong. There were still a few hours left, and everyone revised the paper calmly. This also benefited from the experience of the previous 4 times. I am no longer afraid of these things. It happened by accident.
