5G Spectrum Solution

5G Spectrum Solution

In the 5G network, increasing the carrier bandwidth is the most direct way to increase the system capacity and transmission rate. In the future, the maximum carrier bandwidth of 5G will reach 400M or even higher. Therefore, considering the current frequency occupancy, 5G will have to use high frequency communication.

What is a carrier?

In wired and radio technology, the signal to be transmitted is used to modulate another high-frequency signal, so that the modulated high-frequency oscillation carries the information contained in the modulated signal, and then sent out. This modulated high-frequency signal is called a carrier (or carrier frequency)

What is the difference between bandwidth and transfer rate?

Bandwidth is the ability of the channel to transmit information; the transmission rate is the amount of information transmitted in the channel per unit time. We can use the width of the river channel and the flow of the river as an analogy. To a certain extent, the bandwidth will determine the rate.

5G spectrum distribution is divided into two categories:

FR1 450-6000 MHz

FR2 24250-52600MHz

FR1: The Sub6G frequency band, which is what we call the low-frequency frequency band, is the main frequency band for 5G; the frequency band below 3GHz is called Sub3G, and the rest of the frequency band is called C-band (C-band, which is the main frequency band of 5G)

Currently commonly used C-band:

n41:2496-2690 n77:3.3-4.2GHz n78:3.3-3.8GHz n79:4.4-5.0GHz

FR2: Millimeter wave, which is what we call the high frequency band, is the extended frequency band of 5G, with rich spectrum resources

FR2 Frequency Band Introduction

The current version of millimeter wave defines only four frequency bands, all of which are in TDD mode, and the maximum cell bandwidth supports 400MHz

The reason why n259 is not defined is that some countries do not support the n259 frequency band

5G bandwidth

5G cancels the LTE cell bandwidth below 5M, and large bandwidth is a typical feature of 5G

The definition of bandwidth below 20M is mainly to meet the needs of existing spectrum evolution

China's 5G medium and low frequency band test frequency allocation

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has determined the license for the use of 5G medium and low frequency band test frequencies by China's three major operators;

China Telecom obtains 5G frequency resources of 3400-3500MHz 100MHz

China Unicom obtains 5G frequency resources of 3500-3600MHz 100MHz

China Mobile obtained 5G frequency resources of 2515-2675MHz and 4800-4900MHz

But 2575-2635MHz is China Mobile's existing TD-LTE frequency band (4G D frequency band)
