Open Source Summer 2023 has officially kicked off. As an annual technical feast in the open source field, Open Source Summer invites major open source communities at home and abroad to participate in the event, providing project tasks for the development and maintenance of important open source software. All open source communities are welcome to sign up and work with us to seek open source development and build an open source ecosystem!

# Community registration
Application period: March 6, 2023 to March 30, 2023
Registration method: register a community account through the [Community Login] entrance of the Open Source Summer official website, log in to the Lighting Project Management System, and fill in the community information. After being approved by the organizing committee, register for the [Open Source Summer 2023] event in the event list. If you already have an account, please log in with your original account.

# Community introduction video collection
We sincerely invite open source communities that have passed the review of the organizing committee to successfully go online, record community introduction videos , and submit articles to the organizing committee by email or contacting open source assistants. The organizing committee will regularly publish community introduction videos on the Open Source Summer WeChat official account, video account, and Bilibili account to help students understand the community faster and more deeply.

Before the project is released, the organizing committee will determine the number of projects that the organizing committee can support (indicated by X) based on factors such as community registration and previous participation, and inform the community;
In the project release stage, the community submits projects in the system according to their own needs. The number of projects is not limited , and the approved projects will be launched on the official website one after another;
Project application - the community review stage, the community discusses to determine the approved project, and the quality of the project application is the most important criterion for evaluating whether the student application is passed .
If the number of projects approved by the community is less than or equal to X, all projects are projects supported by the organizing committee; The committee signed a community cooperation agreement. The completion bonus for projects supported by the organizing committee will be provided by the organizing committee, and the completion bonus for projects supported by the community will be provided by the community.

It is recommended to participate in projects that have been open source and have been open for half a year or more;
This year, we will focus on supporting projects related to RISC-V and basic software.
Difficulty and Bonuses:
Advanced Difficulty: RMB 12,000 before tax for student completion bonus
Basic Difficulty: RMB 8,000 before tax for student completion bonus
# Designate a mentor
The community appoints a mentor for each project, and each mentor can guide at most one project;
The community needs to select a tutor account when publishing a project in the system. If the system does not contain tutor information, it is necessary to add the tutor account information;
Event participants can only register as tutors or students, otherwise the completion bonus will be cancelled.
# Upcoming Events
1. Regular community communication meeting
During the community registration stage, the organizing committee will hold regular community communication meetings to interpret the event rules, requirements and related questions.
2. Offline activities
This year's Open Source Summer plans to hold campus tours and offline meetups in cities. The planned cities include Beijing, Nanjing, Xi'an, and Hefei. Everyone is welcome to participate. Individuals and organizations interested in cooperation are also welcome to contact us.
