HP C650 centralized storage delete (release) synchronously replicated virtual volumes
Case: There are too many active-active synchronous replication virtual volumes allocated for the VMware platform on the C650 storage, and some active-active virtual volumes need to be released to optimize the overall ratio

- Precautions
1. Migrate virtual machines and virtual machine templates on storage volumes
C650-1_Active_Lun2 is the main volume of the active-active volume that I want to delete, and all the virtual machines (and templates) on it have been migrated away.
Confirm that the files in the volume are unnecessary, and delete the possible virtual machine template files
Although the virtual machine has been migrated, there may be some important files in it that are not displayed in the virtual machine.
Click the storage volume file tab, confirm the last modified date of the folder, confirm whether there is a template folder, click on the folder with a relatively recent last modified date, and then confirm it again. Of course, if there are files in use, it will also fail when unmounting or deleting the storage volume later. If it fails, it can be remounted.
2. Delete storage volume in VMware vCenter
It has been confirmed that there are no files on the storage volume that need to be kept
01 First confirm and record the NNA number (partition number)
It is very important to confirm the NNA number.
Here we write down... 60002650C (it is best to save another screenshot).
At the same time, it is best to also write down the URL, which will help trace the source when problems arise later. Both URL and NNA are unique.
02 Unmount data storage (storage volume)
Action > Unmount Datastore
Tick All Hosts
OK > Wait for all tasks to complete.
After completion, the status of the storage volume is displayed:
03 Delete data storage (storage volume)
3. Operation within the HPE C650 SSMC storage management platform
01 Find the corresponding virtual volume (pair) according to the NNA number and naming rules
Log in to SSMC, enter the virtual volume interface, and find the volume we need to delete and recycle (right).
Here we confirm the C650-1_VV16T.9 and the C650-1_VV16T.9 on the peer active-active storage by comparing the nna number with the WWN number in SSMC .r
02 Cancel export to host, host set
Click Operation>Cancel Export
Because it is a member of the volume set, the export cannot be canceled. We use the method of step 03 below:
03 Or go to the virtual volume set to remove the virtual volume
Click the volume set link:
Here is a case background explanation. The synchronous replication volume group is directly exported to the host (set). To remove the virtual volume members in the default synchronous replication volume, you need to remove the corresponding virtual volume members in other volume sets first. volume members. That is, when removing a member in a synchronously replicated volume, make sure that the (virtual volume) member does not belong to any other volume set.
Moreover, the operation of synchronously copying volume set members needs to be operated under the "Synchronous Copy Group" interface.
Therefore, the operation sequence for the three volume sets in the above figure is to process the two volume sets in sequence number 1 first.
Click on the volume set in turn, Operation > Edit > Fork off the volume that needs to be removed, click OK and only
one synchronous replication volume set is left after processing
Similarly, perform the same operation on C650-1_VV16T.9.r, so that it only belongs to the default synchronous replication volume set
Go to the synchronous replication group interface, and remove the virtual volume pair under the corresponding group.
Fork off volume 9 and click Normal/OK.
After completion, the associated virtual volume does not belong to any volume set, and the export is 0
05 Confirm that the exported item of the virtual volume is 0, and delete the virtual volume pair.
Delete the C650-1_VV16T.9 primary volume and the C650-1_VV16T.9.r remote replication volume.
Precautions
For high-risk operations, you must remember and carefully check the nna and wwn number
SSMC UI interface operations, and you must pay attention not to misselect the mouse. In addition to the confirmation mechanism of ssmc itself, you must check it multiple times.
