Virtual disk space reclamation for vSAN

  1. New environment vSphere 6.7 U3, VMFS 6 vSAN
  2. Old environment vSphere 6, VMFS 5
  3. Enable umap
    vsan.unmap_support -e ~CLUSTER_NAME in the vsan cluster

  4. Use Veaam to migrate virtual machines from the original vSphere 6 and VMFS 5 to the new environment
  5. Upgrade vmtools, virtual hardware upgrade to version 15
  6. Start the virtual machine and enter the system
  7. View the mount point through df -h
  8. fstrim -v mount point name --length nG is used to specify the size of the reclaimed space
