Dell XPS 13 Plus Developer Edition certified for Ubuntu 22.04 LTS

Canonical has announced that the new Dell XPS 13 Plus Developer Edition has been officially certified for Ubuntu 22.04 LTS . Starting in August, developers can purchase Dell's flagship XPS 13-inch laptop with the latest version of Canonical Desktop Linux pre-installed. Additionally, from now on, current XPS 13 Plus users can install  Ubuntu 22.04 LTS and automatically get the same hardware-optimized experience as the new Developer Edition.

Ubuntu 22.04 LTS is the latest LTS release, bringing new features, performance and stability improvements backed by 10 years of software updates. While installing Ubuntu 22.04 should work now, hardware optimizations in August may enhance the experience.

The program started in 2012 to create high-end Dell systems with Ubuntu pre-installed, built for developers and guided by the developer community. The Dell XPS 13 Plus Developer Edition is the latest release in this long-term partnership .

"By bringing the enhanced performance and power management capabilities of Ubuntu 22.04 LTS to our most advanced premium laptops, Dell and Canonical reinforce our continued ability to provide the best computing for developers using Ubuntu," said Jaewook Woo, Linux Operating System Product Manager at Dell. Complementing the modern look is a 12th Gen Intel Core 28W processor (up from 15W in the previous generation), along with a larger fan that provides 55% more airflow without increasing noise or temperature.
