Ubuntu 22.04 LTS first security update fixes three vulnerabilities

Ubuntu 22.04 LTS launched on April 21st as Canonical's 9th Long Term Support (LTS) series, meaning it will be supported with software and security updates for the next five years until April 2027. Ubuntu 22.04 LTS is currently receiving its first security update from the Linux live install image ( linux-image 5.15.0-25 ) to fix three security vulnerabilities discovered by security researchers.

These include CVE-2022-26490 , a flaw found in the Linux kernel's ST21NFCA NFC driver that allows an attacker to cause DOS (system crash) or possibly execute arbitrary code.

This security update also fixes CVE-2022-1015 and CVE-2022-1016 , two security issues found in the Linux kernel's netfilter subsystem. These vulnerabilities could allow a local attacker to cause DOS, execute arbitrary code, or expose sensitive information (kernel memory).

Ubuntu 22.04 LTS users should update to the new kernel security version linux-image 5.15.0-27.28. You can run sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgradecommands , or use the software updater for security updates.
