The only advantage of using shortcuts to install fonts in Win7 is to save space, because using the "copy method to install fonts" will copy all the fonts to the C:\Windows\Fonts folder, which will make the system disk very large. You can save space by installing fonts.
First, go to Win7 "Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Fonts", click "Font Settings" to enter the font settings interface, and check "Allow shortcuts to install fonts (Advanced) (A)".
