The organizational structure of people or organizations in a project has a profound impact on future projects. In short, there are three types: project type, functional type, and matrix type.

one:

Project type: all the capable soldiers will be assembled together, and the elites of the finance department, business department, IT management department, etc. will leave their original positions. Form a formal department and be led by a project manager. The advantage of this is that the project manager has strong rights and sufficient resources , and all project managers hope to have such a team. However, as far as the company is concerned, the waste of the overall resources of the company by a separate team is obvious; for the individuals who are transferred, they are separated from their original positions.

two:

Functional type: For project managers, this situation is the most bleak, and they have no rights and no resources to complete the cup . All project personnel are still working in their subordinate departments and only spend a small part of their time on project matters. In particular, they also have corresponding functional managers. Such dual management is the most terrifying for the project. Of course, there are also advantages, as far as the company is concerned. Not a lot of resources are consumed for this project. Personally, it's still in my radish pit.


three:

Matrix type: probably the most delicate organizational relationship, divided into weak matrix, balanced matrix, strong matrix. So how is this strong, weak and balanced relationship defined? It is the decision of the relationship between the power of the project manager and the functional manager;

Project Manager > Functional Manager = Strong Matrix

Project Manager = Functional Manager = Balance Matrix

Project Manager < Functional Manager = Weak Matrix

Its advantages are the same as the functional type, for the company's resources to be balanced; for individual positions; for you, the project manager, the horizontal communication is smooth. Disadvantages are: double management, vertical communication difficulties.

 Summarize:

Right: project type > strong matrix > balance matrix > weak matrix > functional type;

Company resources: Functional > Matrix > Project
