So, be sure to think carefully and be prepared.

Baidu Encyclopedia or some blogs are written by individuals, and it is difficult to guarantee their correctness and rigor. It is absolutely normal to encounter some errors in the real-time process. Usually when we implement the method according to the online method, we should pay attention to finding a rigorous and correct method (generally there is a high number of page views), and also be prepared for unexpected situations (such as operating system backup).

Although the installation process may encounter many twists and turns, the advantages of dual systems are also many, and even slowly, dual systems have become very necessary. Its necessity is many:

Install by default

The default method in the Ubuntu installation wizard is the easiest way to install Ubuntu, you can choose this method. After installation, the two systems are on the same disk, which theoretically has little impact.

But there is a risk that a problem with one operating system can easily affect another operating system. And if the windows disk is not an ssd, and the space is not large, it will slow down the running speed.

Below we use the default installation method to install.

At this point the installation wizard will ask you to allocate a portion of your hard drive space for Ubuntu, as needed.

Click Install Now, the following dialog box will pop up, just click Continue;

The following dialog box will pop up next, please click Continue after confirming that the partition settings are correct;

Next, the installation wizard will ask you to set the time zone. If you selected Chinese (China) in the language selection step, the default time zone at this time is Dongba District;

custom installation

Install the system on another empty hard disk (if you want to install the system on a hard disk with existing files, but you don't want to delete the files, see the method at the end of the article)

Select the last item: Other options and click Next to continue;

To the most critical partition creation page:

Next, let's set up the /boot partition, select the free hard disk, and click the plus sign in the lower left corner to start creating the partition;

Xiaobian wants to allocate 200M of space to the /boot partition, so fill in 200MB for the partition size, select the primary partition for the type of the new partition, select the starting position of the space for the location of the new partition, select the Ext4 journal file system for options, and select / as the mount point. boot, click OK to complete;

Select the free partition, and all the rest are used to create a new directory "/" partition;

Select the primary partition for the type of the new partition, select the starting position of the space for the location of the new partition, select the Ext4 journaling file system for options, select / as the mount point, and click OK to complete;

#The most critical step: Select the location to boot to start:

If you want to boot from the hard disk, please select your hard disk as the boot location. (In this case, the boot partition above will not be used, it does not matter, it can be used as a backup).

The advantage of this is that you don't have to start from this computer, you can start any system with a hard disk, and the operating system is completely independent.

The disadvantage is that it is not very convenient, and it is easy to accidentally delete the startup guide, which makes it unusable.

If you want to start from another location, mainly Windows, please select the partition number corresponding to the boot as the boot location, (start from the boot at this time). To enter the windows system first, install Easybcd to add startup items (see the end of the article for details)

The advantage of this is that it is mainly Windows, which can be very convenient to switch systems.

Click Install Now in the lower right corner to start installing Ubuntu. A dialog box will pop up asking you to verify your partition settings. After verification, please click Continue;

Next you will be asked to set the time zone and keyboard layout, exactly the same steps as installing Ubuntu by default.

After the installation is complete, a dialog box will pop up to prompt you to restart. Click the Restart Now button to enter the dual-system selection interface.

ps:

1. Install the system on a hard disk with existing files:

First, use Diskgenius software to divide the hard disk into a new partition to install linux. The size should be more than 5g.

Then, the partition is deleted and the partition becomes unpartitioned.

After that, you can operate according to the content of the text.

2. Error prompt: The bootstrap program cannot be installed in the specified location.

If the card is in the original position, it cannot be clicked. Shut down and reinstall.

This time switch to a custom installation. The method follows the method above.

This is to find that the partition has been divided (automatically divided by the system), delete the automatically created partition, and then install it according to the above custom installation method.
