Waterfox G4.1.0 released

Waterfox is an open source browser based on Firefox, first released in 2011 by Alex Kontos. Currently Waterfox is divided into two versions - Classic and Current (G4). Based on Firefox, Waterfox removes features such as data collection, telemetry, and startup analysis that affect user privacy.

Waterfox G4.1.0 is now released with the following updates:

New

  • In about:addons, the add- on's version number is again displayed next to its name.
  • Automatic updates can now be disabled in about:preferences → General → Waterfox Updates.
  • Startpage is now the default search when searching in Private Tab and Private Window.
  • Users who wish to use the HTML GeoLocation API on Linux can now enable it in about:preferences → Languages ​​→ Geolocation API.
  • Tabs are now automatically uninstalled when your system runs low on memory.
  • Tabs can now be uninstalled manually after enabling the preference in about:preferences → General → Tabs. Then you can right click on a tab and uninstall it.

  • The Chrome Web Store extension should now install correctly again.
  • Back and forward buttons on various mice now work correctly in Waterfox instead of acting as middle-click.

Changed

  • The minimum requirements have been slightly reduced from SSE4.2 to SSE4.1.
  • Removed the -moz-fit-content prefix. -fit-content show now works without the -moz prefix.
  • The <dialog> HTML element is now enabled.
