How desperate do I want to be a job in a major Internet company

This article is reproduced from Spontaneous Combustion Finance

Just after the Spring Festival holiday, many people in the workplace can no longer hold back their hearts: the year-end bonus has been obtained, and they can finally quit. Headhunters and HRs are also gearing up. "Golden Three Silver Four" is the peak recruitment season. Whether it can give a good start to this year's performance depends on these two months. Even ordinary employees leave "codes" everywhere, hoping to get a generous referral reward for the referral function. Moments, pulses and even the message area of related news can see the information of recruiting referrals.

For Internet people, job-hopping often means a salary increase, and jumping to a big factory is the dream of every Internet person. The reason for this is nothing more than the high salaries, generous benefits and resume competitiveness of the big companies that far exceed those of the small ones.

As a recent example, the first short video share of Kuaishou soared 161% on the first day of listing. After the listing, the two post-80s founders Su Hua and Cheng Yixiao were worth more than 100 billion yuan, and the per capita profit of employees who held shares exceeded 10 million yuan. Employees have made a profit of 90 million yuan after joining the company in 2017. This is a wealth creation myth that belongs only to Internet companies. In the past few years, such stories have been repeated.

Even if it did not catch up with the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of going public, in the past 2020, Huawei's dividends of 40 billion yuan and the staff of Momo employees with a top-of-the-line iPhone 12 are enough to make the "workers" of small companies enviable.

Joining a major factory is an ideal that many people have established since their student days. A graduation trip, a graduation confession, a graduation performance, and an offer from a major factory are becoming the four must-do lists for a fresh graduate. However, in terms of implementation, compared with the previous three items, it seems a lot more difficult to get an offer from a major factory after graduation.

According to 3 reports, in 2019, Tencent school recruited hundreds of thousands of resumes, but only more than 3,000 of them were offered in the end, and the acceptance rate did not exceed 3%. In 2020, the situation will be even more tragic. The non-technical registration ratio of a well-known Internet company has reached an astonishing 3000:1, and the registration ratio of the hottest application for the national civil service examination in 2021 is 2774:1.

Whether it is an Internet professional or a recent graduate, they all dream of offering offers from large companies. It is persevering and painstaking to be able to successfully join large companies, but in the end, we often get water from bamboo baskets. In this issue of the tavern, we talked with some friends. Let’s talk about their journey of joining a major factory.

Among them, some of them failed to enter the door of Dachang even after several interviews; some submitted their resumes through multiple channels and methods, and in the end they did not even get the interview opportunity of Dachang; of course there are lucky ones, I entered a big factory like Huawei as soon as I graduated; some regretted giving up Ali's offer.

Joining a major Internet company means high salary, beautiful resume and huge room for growth. But at the same time, the 996 and 007 work systems of major Internet companies have also made many people feel uncomfortable and confused after rushing to enter the game, and doubt their original choices.

Dachang is a besieged city. It’s hard to tell even the people in it, but it still attracts young people to follow suit. Whether it is suitable or worthwhile is another question.

If you work at Huawei, you will fall behind if you don’t study

Xinxin | 27-year-old programmer

I was an undergraduate and graduate student in a 985 college in Guangzhou. Last year, I entered Huawei's R&D department through school recruitment and became a programmer with "996" treatment.

School recruitment interviews are quite routine for me. I submit my resume on the official website. After the resume is screened, I will start preparing for the interview. I brushed two or three problems on the computer every two days, brushed for nearly a month, reviewed the basic knowledge, and prepared my own project statement. There are two rounds of technical interviews to understand professional basic knowledge, project experience, etc. There is a link to write code on the whiteboard, and then a round of supervisor interviews to talk about personality, past experience, etc.

One point is that the interview is not difficult. Many outstanding classmates around me use Huawei's Offer to guarantee their bottom line, and then rush for positions in Internet companies such as Tencent and Alibaba.

Huawei's office in Shenzhen is rented. I rented a house in the nearby village at a rent of 2,200 yuan a month and walked to work every day. The so-called "996 is a blessing", I go to work at 8:30 in the morning, leave work at about 9:30 in the evening, and return home at about 10 o'clock, because the department is not particularly busy. Compared with other departments who leave work at 10 or 11 in the evening, I don't think I'm particularly tired of hitting workers anymore.

But this is Huawei after all. Sometimes when I encounter some urgent tasks, I will be anxious to sleep. Everyone has to memorize some tasks. Failure to complete them will affect performance appraisal and wages.

Here, the overall situation is good or not. There is double salary for working on Saturdays. The salary may not be as good as that of major Internet companies, but it will not be worse.

One of the great experiences of working at Huawei is that everyone works hard and is actively studying in their spare time. Every day is self-driven learning. Even during lunch break and evening, many people have to spend time to supplement knowledge and improve ability, which makes you feel "if you don't study, you will fall behind".

The company has a wealth of learning resources, various websites and materials for you to study, and there are usually some certification exams.

Of course, not everyone studies so hard. I was also very active during the probation period, but after I became a regular member, I became lazy and I would leave some time for myself. I have been working for more than half a year now, and I am looking forward to receiving my first year-end award in the middle of the year.

Young people have a "dream of a big factory"

Jin Yu丨Algorithm post of a large factory at 28 years old

I am a certain "APP factory" that I joined after graduation in 2018. I am currently in an algorithm post and I am doing advertisement recall and rough sorting.

Many people say that it is difficult to enter a big factory, but for me, the entire application process is fairly smooth.

I saw the internship recruitment information on the official website at the beginning of 2017, and then submitted my resume. In my impression, the company responded quickly after the resume was delivered. It seemed that after only one day, HR notified me to go for an interview. There are three sides to the whole process, about 40 minutes each time, and the main questions are professional questions.

Because I learned computer science, professional counterparts, and solid basic knowledge, I entered the internship smoothly after the interview. About three months or so, the company will have a regular defense. This defense is not too difficult. Generally, as long as the internship is serious, it will pass. In the end, I got the official offer at the end of 2017 and successfully joined in 2018.

I personally feel that it is easier for schools to recruit large companies than social recruitment, and the channel for internship is better. Because school recruitment pays more attention to potential and examines basic knowledge, social recruitment requires that the content of the past work is related to the current position to a certain extent, and the requirements are higher.

Dachang has a halo. Everyone outside may want to go in and take a look. From my graduation internship to looking for a job, I have always delivered jobs in big factories. Only one of them has not had an interview. The other two have entered the internship stage, but one of them didn't become a full member because they didn't like the group they were in, and the other was the company I work for now.

But Dachang is also a "siege". In recent years, the company has grown rapidly, with annual revenue and user data increasing by 100% or more. In contrast, the company and employees must keep up with this growth rate and must constantly look for new businesses and new directions. Often when the project has just been completed or even being finalized, it has to think about the direction of the next project. When it comes to employees, high-intensity work becomes a must, and "996" is a necessity.

But people need rest. I also thought about leaving Dachang, but after a while, I continued to stay. Maybe Dachang is just a bowl of "youth rice", and you don't need to wait until 35 years old, Dachang community animals need to find their own way out.

A good hand is played so badly, I still want to go to Dachang

Gao Qing | 27 years old product manager

I have been working for almost four years from graduation to now, but my work status and environment have been unsatisfactory. They all say "golden three and silver four", and a good time to change jobs has come again. I plan to deliver to large factories this time, and will not consider opportunities from other small factories.

Looking back and thinking about my work over the past few years, I really responded to the sentence, "Graduation is the pinnacle." As my friend said, I played a good hand so sparsely that my career path is getting better and better. narrow.

What he said is very reasonable. I graduated from a 211 college and majored in software engineering. During my time at school, I participated in some college computer competitions and won some good rankings. I also formed a team to participate in several projects. The results achieved are also good. When I graduated from the autumn recruitment, I also received some good job opportunities, but in the end I gave up Ali’s offer and came to a startup company because the startup company offered me the position of "product manager" and the salary was more than two thousand yuan.

But not long after I came to the company, I regretted it. Not to mention the chaotic management of the company, the technology I mastered was not as powerful as the bragged during the interview, and the mentioned "financing negotiation" did not finally land. I stayed in this company for a year and my salary did not rise. And the same batch of students who graduated from Dachang and chose Dachang, the salary is much higher than mine.

In the end, I chose to resign and started to deliver the job at Dachang.

I thought that even though I was "satisfied", I still had a certain degree of competitiveness in the job search, but I was quickly "slapped in the face" by reality. Without exception, all resumes posted on the recruitment website or the company's official recruitment website fell into disarray. One day I saw them in a WeChat group talking about the topic of Dachang recruitment, during which a group friend talked about some "shortcuts", including "internal push codes", "internal examination questions" and so on.

I think this group friend looks very "expert", so I added his friend and tried to get him to give some pointers. Qunyou told me that if you want to get into the company through the push channel, you have more confidence in getting the push code of a higher-level employee, and said that his XX friend can provide the push code, but a little "tea fee" is required. I didn’t realize it was a scam at the time. After transferring 2000 yuan to the other party to get an internal push code, I also revised the resume according to his request. Also, to thank the group friends, I sent him two 200 yuan. Red envelopes.

The result is also obvious. The so-called "internal push code" is useless, and only one or two other companies that delivered have given interview opportunities. Interviews are also very difficult for me. In order to deal with the interview well, I still learn about the interview questions of these companies in Zhihu, Weibo and other places. Even on a job search official account, I spent 299 yuan to buy a set of "interview questions" covering many large companies.

However, through my practical experience, I have learned that these so-called internal interview questions are all fake. Except for some mandatory questions during the interview, the rest are "freedom" by the interviewer.

After that, considering that the “stop production” was too long and there was not much savings left, I joined a newly established startup company again, and within six months I left again. After leaving my job, I was still passionate about "big factory", but the reality is that I have invested in many big factories, but I never grasped the interview opportunity.

I think maybe my resume is not well written, so after listening to a resume class of a Weibo career big V, I also spent money to find a team to change the resume and ask him to follow the "writing principles" mentioned in the course. Modify my resume.

Now I have started a new round of resume delivery. I think that after the resume is revised, HR can better understand my advantages and are willing to give me an interview opportunity.

The byte beats twice a year, never

Ye Zhiqiu丨29-year-old media person

In 2020, I met Bytedance twice, both of which were operating posts, but on different platforms. The first was the operation of Douyin, and the second was the operation of Watermelon Video.

Regrettably, the two interviews failed.

When I interviewed Douyin for the first time, it was in the first half of 2020 that Bytedance was about to go public, and many positions were opened. I submitted my resume and entered the interview smoothly. The interview was divided into four rounds, and it took a month before and after, and I went all the way smoothly. But by the end of the four sides and you can get the Bytedance Offer after passing it, I was told that it was "inappropriate", and HR did not say the specific reason.

I even suspected that the position was not hiring. Eight months after my interview, I accidentally learned that a friend also interviewed for the exact same position, but the final result was similar to mine.

At the end of 2020, I received an interview notice from the operation post of the watermelon video platform. But I didn't deliver the position at the time. It may be that there was a resume in stock. After the other party saw it, he took the initiative to call me. At that time, I was already working in a central media agency, and I was busy with several projects. I didn't prepare enough for the interview, and in the end I still failed.

I feel that interviews are also a metaphysics. Whether the requirements are matched and whether they are adequately prepared are not necessary conditions for success. Luck accounts for a large proportion. For example, when interviewing Douyin for operations in the first half of 2020, my conditions match each of the job descriptions, I have sufficient relevant experience, I have many user resources, and I have also fully prepared, but the interview just failed. .

In 2018, I also interviewed Toutiao’s operations post and JD’s public relations post, but for some reasons I didn’t join the job. The overall feeling is that I have no fate with Dachang.

In fact, I don't have any "big factory complex". I have worked for many years and I have interviewed many companies and positions, and big factories are just a part of them. I am majoring in journalism, and when I just graduated looking for a job, I didn't have any desire for big internet companies. It is not until 2020 that you start to consider entering a big factory, because big factory will become a label, just like your academic qualifications, it can let the interviewer know you quickly, and even become a bonus item. This resume can be a springboard for future jobs.

Although I have not been able to achieve my wish, I am not particularly eager now. I don’t want to change jobs for the time being. First, I feel that frequent job-hopping is not good for my career. Second, I also want to cultivate and accumulate in the current field and have the opportunity to achieve my own in the future. cause.

In order to enter Xiaomi, it is still futile to submit resumes several times

Sundial | 30-year-old media worker

Although I have now given up on the idea of joining Xiaomi (hereinafter referred to as Xiaomi), I used to work hard to become a member of Xiaomi, but all I did was useless.

I graduated in 2013, and I have always wanted to work for Xiaomi since I graduated. On the one hand, I have always had a special feeling for Xiaomi. Even when everyone is criticizing it, I still think it is a company worth entering. On the other hand, when I just graduated, I lived close to where Xiaomi was at that time, and I only had to walk to commute.

But what I didn't expect was that it was so difficult to work at Xiaomi.

I started to invest in some of Xiaomi's positions when I was close to graduation. I remember that I had invested in new media operations, Weibo operations, editing, etc., but I haven't received a reply for a long time. The best feedback is to stop at the step of "HR checked your resume", there is no follow-up.

But I can't wait forever, after all, people who work on food need wages. So I thought about giving up delivering Xiaomi first and looking for a job.

In the process of looking for a job, I remember that I was interviewing at an Internet company in Wangjing SOHO. The HR of that company asked, "Which company do you like the most?" When I answered that it was Xiaomi, the other party asked "Why didn't you go?" "After I said "I submitted a resume but no response", she comforted me, "How much do you know about Xiaomi? Did you read "Sense of Participation"? If you think you can, then go to the Weibo and private messages of Lei Jun and Li Wanqiang. !"

After listening to the HR, I immediately checked the Weibo of Lei Jun and Li Wanqiang. Because I have read "Sense of Participation" before, after reading it for the second time, I wrote a piece of "Xiaomi to Me" from the bottom of my heart. I sent a private message to Lei Jun and Li Wanqiang, but the results can be imagined.

Until now, the "letter" is still on my computer and can be found in the private messages on Weibo. But now, although my love for Xiaomi is still there, I don't have that desire to enter this company anymore.

I am operating in ByteDance, with a salary of 6,000 yuan, three shifts

Li Hong | 27-year-old civil servant

I was doing content review at the Tianjin company by ByteDance the year before last. This job, dressed in a nice "operation" cloak, should actually be the job with the lowest salaries on all Internet platforms.

I myself describe this position as an Internet assembly line workshop, with three shifts, repetitive content, and muddled, maybe the fun of work is not as good as Foxconn.

My university majored in agriculture. I graduated with a second undergraduate degree. The degree is not low. I started working in a fertilizer factory in a small city in Shandong. Do experiments, farming, experiment product effects every day, and help senior engineers with chores. This work is not tiring, but I work hard every day, and I see that the salary is 3,500 yuan.

Watching graduates traveling around, buying new iPhones as soon as they come out, I really envy them.

By chance, my college roommate asked me to go to a big city and said that she was operating by ByteDance. When I heard that Tianjin is close to Beijing, it is considered a big city no matter what, the key is that the byte beating is too strong, but I changed my mind again, we are such a professional that can’t reach it. Normally, it is impossible to enter. .

So, with luck and internal advice from my classmates, I went through written examinations and interviews all the way, and successfully entered the big factory. But after successfully getting the Offer, I changed my mind. It's not that I'm good, but that the requirements of this position are too low.

And the high salary in my fantasy did not appear in the position I faced. The salary of the audit post in Tianjin is 6,000 yuan. Although there are housing subsidies and overtime subsidies, it is a delusion to want more than 200,000 yuan a year.

This job is divided into morning shift, middle shift, evening shift and large night shift. It's common to get off work at one o'clock in the morning, and it's three o'clock after returning home to wash and lie down on the bed. When you come in shifts, you usually cannot rest on weekends. If you can take 6 days off in a month, you are lucky.

My colleagues have many famous school students. They all dream of entering a big factory and struggling, but I later learned that the audit post is basically the most promising post, and very few people can be promoted to the management post. Due to the singular job skills, it is difficult for the audit post to be transferred. Either go on or leave the job. This is the norm for most people.

I did it for about half a year, replaced it with a new phone, and then went home to take a civil service exam after listening to my mother's words. But the brutal experience in big cities and factories in those six months left me with a deep memory.

Even with a monthly salary of 2,000 yuan, I admit it in order to be able to join Huawei

Xuexue | 25 years old from the media industry

As an ordinary graduate, I have never dared to imagine that I can enter a major factory for internship as soon as I graduate.

The moment I came to Beijing alone from Heilongjiang, I summoned my courage and almost gambled on all my luck. After being recommended by friends, I came to Dachang as an intern.

At first, I hesitated and even wanted to give up. Even if I haven't lived in Beijing, I will understand more or less that I can't live in Beijing with a monthly salary of 2,000 yuan.

Before I made up my mind and chose to enter a large factory for an internship, I cried many times, complaining about my school, my major, and my not working hard enough, but I never thought that this might be the only chance for me to stand up.

Later, my parents and friends persuaded me that since the previous one can no longer choose, then give myself a chance to go out and "see the world". At the beginning, the salary was low, there was no problem, it was true that I could learn something. I think about it now that I don’t have the capital to ask for more.

But the moment I walked into Dachang, I knew that this was what I wanted. Whether it's the work environment or the conversations with people around me after dinner, all of these are beyond my reach before. Their present is also the future I want. I started to study with an open mind and master the basic skills of this job as quickly as possible.

Normally, I can leave work at 6:30 every day, but I usually read a book or review the work content of the day until 8 o’clock, and then ask the seniors around me to solve the confusion I encountered on this day.

Fortunately, the internship life at Dachang is not as difficult as I thought, but the rent is still dependent on the family. But I believe that within a few months, I will be able to successfully become a full-time employee of a major factory through my own efforts.
