Microsoft announces extended support for earlier versions of Windows 10

Microsoft recently announced that due to the current public health situation, in order to alleviate the pressure faced by the customer base, the company decided to postpone the support service date and repair date of certain Windows 10 versions to help individuals and organizations focus on Business continuity.

Windows 10 version 1709 should have ended support for Enterprise, Education, and IoT Enterprise on April 14, but Microsoft said it will continue to release updates until October 13, 2020.

Originally expected to stop service on May 12, 2020, Windows 10 version 1809 for home users will also have extended support, and related Home, Pro, Pro Education, Pro for Workstation and IoT Core update support will be extended until November 2020 10th. In addition, Microsoft stated that it has temporarily suspended the function updates for the Home and Pro versions of Microsoft running on version 1809.

Other products, such as Configuration Manager version 18010, SharePoint Server 2010, SharePoint Foundation 2010, Project Server 2010, Dynamics 365 cloud services and basic authentication, have also been updated with new service dates and extended support hours.

In this regard, Microsoft said that these changes will not affect or delay the support date of other versions not mentioned here. The end of support for Exchange Server 2010, Office 2010, Project 2010, Office 2016 for Mac, and Office 2013 and Office 365 services will remain unchanged.
