国际考古学暨历史语言学学会会长、日本国文学博士 刘正教授
在著名学者如云的国际考古学暨历史语言学学会的理事、常务理事中，一直有一位默默不出声的大学者存在着。
——这个人是谁呢？就是本学会常务理事、秘书长方耿美（MEGHANCAI）教授。
当很多读者第一次看到本学会常务理事、秘书长“方耿美”教授的名字时，大家争议的只是这是男性还是女性的名字？或者大家感兴趣的是这是位美籍台湾学者或者美籍亚裔学者。根本没有想到她其实是位正统的美国白人学者，更不用说她还是位才女、美女集为一身的女汉学家！她现在任职于著名的美国Grand Valley State University，亚洲研究中心教授。是专业研究中国古典艺术史和经典翻译的知名汉学家。长期研究和接触中国传统文化，使她比现代中国女性更附有了中国古典女性的温柔和宁静，保持着与世无争的贤妻良母形象和品格特征。
深受学生们爱戴的著名汉学家、艺术史家方耿美教授
在著名的Arizona State University攻读博士学位期间，她撰写了《“The Social Life of Texts: Reading Zhuang Chuo’s庄绰Jilei bian鸡肋编》博士学位论文，并且在取得了博士学位后，她立刻参与了对美国著名收藏家罗伊与玛丽莲•派普夫妇收藏的一百八十多件明清绘画进行专业的研究和著述，是一位精通中国美术史研究的知名学者。
而她的硕士学位论文，则是对于唐代传本《史记》的研究：《Tang dynasty tales;
Shiji史记(Records of the Grand Historian) studies》，这篇出色的研究论文使她获得了著名的University of Wisconsin的亚洲研究学位。
因此，具有了对中国艺术史、古代史精湛的学术基础之后，她开始了以艺术史为核心的对中国传统经典的翻译、理解和研究。
