The application of radar and image processing technology in solving the realistic problems on the campus

1.Background

With the rapid development of the society, the technology of the electric science area has been widely used. Among all the advanced technology, radar and image processing technology are two functional and widely used technologies, which attain great popularity among a great deal of the administrators and technicians. In terms of the school, those two technologies could still function in an effective and significant way, which could eventually address the reality problems, optimize the resources of the school, enhance the efficiency of all the staff in the school.

2.The realistic problems and solutions

Firstly, radar and image processing technology could contribute to optimizing the order of dining. As an old saying goes, “Humanity most fundamental relationship is with what we eat.” Every time when finishing the 4th course in the morning or 8th course in the afternoon, every canteen in Qingshuihe Campus of the UESTC would be populous and crowded. In few minutes, every channels which could attain food must be filled with people who purchase their portions of the food. In fact, this crowded phenomenon result the chaos in the canteen, which results in the waste of many teachers and students precious time in the noon the evening. Therefore, how to arrange the students and teachers to eat at different time becomes a challenge to the administrators.
At this time, radar and image processing technology could be combined closely to solve this problem, which helps to eliminate the dinning pressuring through the technological support. In every 9 main canteens, there should be many cameras and the radar. What needs to mention that radar enables to capture the wavelength of the heat emitted from the body of human beings, such as infrared wave. The camera is used to capture the real-time image of the canteen. As the radar which is able to capture the infrared, it could detect the heat radiated by every person in the canteen (which radiates as the form of infrared). Subsequently, the administrators in the school could the small programs of WeChat or the applications to give a feedback of the real-time image and heat distribution cloud-picture, which reflects the real-time number of the people and the distribution in every 9 main canteen. As for the staff who just finish the class in the morning or the evening, they could search for the real-time image and heat distribution cloud-picture, in order to search for a relatively less crowed and populous window which provides the food. Additionally, if this technology is used by the school, all the relevant images and figures should be saved and stored for a long time. Then the technicians and the administrators should make a thorough analysis, which would get the general dining condition of every canteen in the workdays, assist every teacher and student in the school to make an optimized option and improve the efficiency of their leisure time.

Secondly, radar and image processing technology could be an accessorial tool to the random parking problem of the bicycles. School need to discuss and define the no-parking area on the campus with the shared-bicycle business company. Then the school could the set the cameras and range radar in the no-parking area. Every time when people park their bikes or electric bicycles in the no-parking area, it is supposed to inform and remind such people of their mistakes of parking in a wrong place through the App, and tell them the distance and the location of the correct parking area. In terms of the people who ignore the reminding message, it is possible to capture the images of the bicycles and the photographs of the individual. During the auxiliary administration process, the image processing technology could identify the photographs of the people who violate the rules, which could also be used to justify whether the rider is the student of UESTC. If it is confirmed that the rider is the student of UESTC, the staff in the school can take stock of some approaches to remind such students to obey the rules consciously. While as for the radar, it could play a vital role in administrating the bicycles which are parked randomly. When there are bicycles placed in the no-parking area, the radar could detect the signals emitted and produced by the bicycle; Simultaneously, the radar could calculate the distance to the place which is allowed to park, and help the riders to park their bikes at the right place. If this technology is used and applied widely, it is believed that the pressure on the relevant administrators could be eased significantly, which would also improve the public order and aesthetic degree of the campus.

Thirdly, the radar and image processing technology could lead the students who intend to go for the self-study to seek an available place. As it is known to the students in UESTC, a large amount of the students would select Pin Xue Building or the library to take the self-study. Since there are many students or teachers studying at the classroom, or at the library, especially on the weekend, finding the seat to take the self-study sometimes becomes an inevitable challenge to the students and teachers. As a result, many people spend a great amount of the time on finding the available self-study area, which is not worthwhile for everyone. Then the radar and image processing technology enable to address the realistic problem on the campus. The general principle is to combine the advantages of the radar technology and image processing technology. Initially, there must be some cameras in the library and Pin Xue Building. It should be also noted that the cameras should take the real-time occupation condition photographs of the seats with the sockets in the library, because many students or teachers might bring their laptops to study or research and they intend to find the seat with socket which could help to charge up their laptops. Therefore, it could save the time of students to find the seats with socket if they are available to check the real-time occupation condition. In this way, the administrators in the school could consider using the image processing technology to give the feedback of the occupation of the empty seats to the students. Consequently, it is beneficial for everyone who seek the available seats on the campus and improve the efficiency explicitly.

3.Conclusion

In conclusion, modern electric science technology, especially for the radar and image processing technology, could play an important part in our daily life. Through those advanced technologies, we could eliminate the pressure on the society and allocate the optimized distribution on the society. Meanwhile, such high-tech could also promote the efficiency of every individual of the society, which could make the life of human beings much more meaningful.
