ubuntu 10.04 TLS, ASUS X43E有线网络连不上，无线网络天天断

前言

最近这半年很郁闷，一直很郁闷，上个月花了一个下午也没有找到原因，今天升级了一下网卡驱动，似乎解决了。

尝试的解决过程（等今天验证一下，如果网络没再断开应该就是可以了）

本本：ASUS X43E

无限网卡：Atheros Communications Inc. AR9285

有线网卡：Atheros Communications Device 1083

通过如下指令查看网卡硬件信息：

lspci -vvv|grep -i net

得到信息：

02:00.0 Network controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter (PCI-Express) (rev 01)
04:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Device 1083 (rev c0)

 

首先是找无限网络为什么经常断开，没找到有效的文章。

后来转向升级网卡驱动来想办法解决。

于是找到Atheros网卡的驱动下载网站：http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drivers/Atheros

接着进入到具体驱动下载的列表：http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Download/stable

下载比较新的版本：compat-wireless 3.4 stable releases

按照章节【Building and installing】中的内容，安装驱动，并重启系统。

有线网络不能连接

后来找到帖子：http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-hardware-18/howto-install-driver-for-ethernet-controller-atheros-communications-device-1083-a-930325/

其中提到了可能是linux内核的功能问题，于是从文章提到的链接：http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=65944&start=30

从文章发现如下描述：

After a series of tests, I have come a to a possible solution: recompiling for the 2.6.38 kernel.
I tested various Linux distros: Arch, Slackware, Ubuntu, Parted Magic, and Tiny Core.
Debian had the oldest kernel: 2.6.32 No ethernet.
Tiny core and Arch have 2.6.33. No ethernet.

通过指令： uname -a 看了一下系统的内核版本——

Linux myname-laptop 2.6.32-33-generic #70-Ubuntu SMP Thu Jul 7 21:13:52 UTC 2011 x86_64 GNU/Linux

果然是文中提到的2.6.32的内核，那就难怪无法连接有线网络了。
