1.6: Operating System Category:
- Process management purposes : ①: fair; ②: non-blocking: that is, any program can not endlessly obstruction of the normal advance other programs; ③: Priority
- Virtual Memory : Coming physical memory (cache and main memory) to expand to external storage media (tape, optical disk)
- Memory management purposes : so many programs to share the same physical memory, which requires physical memory segmentation and protection, can not make a visit program
- File system : disk will become a very easy to use storage media to provide to users
- I / O management purposes : ① difference different shielding device; ② provide concurrent access
