It depends on the source virtual machine (referred to as a parent virtual machine). Because linked-clone was created by a snapshot from the parent virtual machine, thus saving disk space, and clone speed is very fast, but the cloned virtual machine performance might decline.
Parent virtual machine virtual disks will be changes do not affect the linked clone, the changes to the linked-clone disks will not affect the parent virtual machine. However, if the parent virtual machine damage or delete the snapshot point, linked clone virtual machine can not be used; if the parent virtual machine to move position, need to specify the location of the parent virtual machine, and then start the linked-clone virtual machine.
