According to the latest news from TheInformation, the OpenAI board of directors is considering new board candidates, but Altman is not among them.

OpenAI's board of directors and its representatives have begun discussions with candidates to fill the board following the ouster and subsequent return of Sam Altman as CEO.

According to two people familiar with the matter, the two board candidates include  former GitHub CEO and startup investor Nat Friedman (pictured below, left) and Scale AI co-founder and CEO Alexandr Wang (pictured below, right) .

It is unclear who else the OpenAI board has been approached by to join the board of directors. But the talks, which are still in their early stages, suggest the OpenAI board is looking to add representation from companies that work with OpenAI, such as Scale, or with other artificial intelligence startups.

OpenAI Internal Governance Plan

Bret Taylor, former co-CEO of Salesforce and new chairman of the board of directors of OpenAI, announced plans to strengthen OpenAI’s internal governance within a week of ChatGPT:

We will establish a qualified, diverse board of distinguished individuals whose collective experience represents the breadth of OpenAI’s mission—from technology to security to policy. We are pleased that the Board of Directors will include a non-voting Microsoft observer.

We will further stabilize the OpenAI organization so that we can continue to fulfill our mission. This will include convening an independent committee of the board to oversee a review of recent events.

We will strengthen OpenAI's governance structure so that all stakeholders - users, customers, employees, partners and community members - can trust that OpenAI will continue to thrive.

The new board of directors candidates did not consider letting Ultraman join this time, probably more to avoid suspicion. OpenAI's current valuation has reached 100 billion US dollars, and Ultraman only needs to be a steady CEO and ensure that at this stage, Just commercialize OpenAI.

The good news is that just today, OpenAI announced that it will launch a GPT store next week! Everyone can create GPT and make money. OpenAI may really create an “App Store” in the field of large models~

And in a year or two, I believe it will be a matter of time before Altman returns to the board of directors.
