On December 22, the annual openKylin partners and developers meeting was successfully held in Beijing. With the theme of "Open Source Co-Creation, Grow Together", this conference invited outstanding community co-construction units and developer representatives to gather offline to learn about new developments in the community, share new open source operating system technologies, and jointly study new future trends in the industry.

Opening speech of the meeting

Kong Jinzhu, director of the openKylin community and general manager of Kirin Software, said in his opening speech that in the past year, more and more excellent corporate partners and developers have joined the openKylin open source family, laying a think tank foundation for operating system root technology innovation. With the joint efforts of 400+ ecological partners and 5500+ developers in the community, the openKylin community has achieved a number of technological innovations and achieved full-stack technological innovation in terms of system performance, functional experience, ecological integration, and application development. This meeting was a technical exchange, a collision of ideas, and the beginning of innovation. It is hoped that through exchanges and sharing, sparks of wisdom will be created and further promote the integration of operating system innovation and technology.

Community Achievements Review

Li Zhenning, director of the openKylin Community Ecological Committee, shared the progress results and future prospects of openKylin. Li Zhenning said that in 2023, under the guidance of the belief in establishing China's open source operating system root community, the openKylin community has brought together industrial forces from all walks of life, academicians and experts, and university teachers and students. , individual developers, jointly promote the improvement of community governance system, creation of community products, construction of system ecosystem and improvement of user experience. The rapid development of the openKylin community fully reflects the vitality and unlimited potential of open source as an innovative software collaborative production model.

 

  • In terms of ecological co-construction , currently, the openKylin community has brought together 400+ corporate members and 36 research, teaching, and application institutes covering operating systems, databases, office software, CPUs, GPUs, complete machines, artificial intelligence, etc. Institutions of higher learning at all levels.
  • In terms of version release , the openKylin community has released a total of 6 versions, completed the selection of 20+ core components, and the cumulative downloads have exceeded one million.
  • In terms of innovation and evolution , 94 SIGs have been established to carry out technological research and innovation. Among them, the latest major technological achievements of the community such as the open package format environment, wlcom synthesizer, KARE ecological compatibility, immutable systems and cross-version upgrade tools will be integrated into the openKylin 2.0 version , disruptive innovation brings new experiences. Currently, openKylin 2.0 alpha version has been released, targeting developers and new user experience.
  • In terms of intelligent integration , the openKylin AI framework installation assistant has been released to enable one-click installation of the AI ​​framework, and in openKylin version 1.0, it has supported desktop AI large model plug-ins and intelligent voice assistant functions, focusing on intelligent input and intelligent output to deeply integrate AI. technology to promote the innovative development of intelligent interaction in desktop operating systems.
  • In terms of RISC-V layout , the openKylin community officially joined the RISC-V Foundation, independently built a RISC-V open source desktop operating system version from the source code level, became a member of its industry alliance, supports more than 80% of the mainstream RISC-V chips in the market, and joined hands with Deepin Intelligence releases the world’s first RISC-V laptop, DC-ROMA.

 

Moving towards 2024, the openKylin community will base itself on a new starting point and achieve new leaps and bounds. Integrating intelligence and co-creation with open source, openness, equality and collaboration model to create new experiences and values ​​for users and developers.

Sharing achievements of co-construction partners

Yue Xiaoshuai, director of the Marketing Support Department of Glenfield, delivered a keynote speech on "Sharing Open Source Practical Technology for Members of the Glenfield OpenKylin Community". Yue Xiaoshuai said that after joining the openKylin community, Glenfield actively participated in community co-construction and joined the community GPU SIG. Currently, it has Completed the compatibility and adaptation certification between the Arise1 platform and the openKylin operating system, and performed well in terms of functionality, performance and compatibility.

 

Wang Wenzhu, associate researcher at Xinchuang Haihe Lab, delivered a keynote speech on "Sharing Open Source Practices among Xinchuang Haihe Lab openKylin Community Members". Wang Wenzhu said that Xinchuang Haihe Lab and the openKylin community jointly build the RISC-V version, operate promotion and talent training, etc. There is a close cooperative relationship. The two parties have worked together to independently build a RISC-V open source desktop operating system version from the source code level. Currently, openKylin has achieved full support for computing RISC-V products, covering desktop environment, software ecosystem, containerization deployment, artificial intelligence, etc. key areas. In the future, the two parties will deepen cooperation and jointly promote the development of RISC-V ecological technology.

 

Wang Zhen, secretary of the Youth League Committee of the School of Software of Nankai University, delivered a keynote speech on "Nankai University + openKylin: Jointly Promoting the International Construction of the Open Source Community". Wang Zhen said that the School of Software of Nankai University, as a co-construction partner of the openKylin community, created the International Promotion SIG and is responsible for connecting 30+ country, 103 foreign students have carried out relevant international promotion work. Currently, four international promotion exchange activities have been carried out, and 11 national star promotion site authorization certificates have been issued, including Nepal, Kenya, and Sierra Leone. In the future, the two parties will further work together to expand the international project exchange circle and promote openKylin community scientific and technological innovation cooperation, technology promotion and exchange, and achievement transformation and application.

 

Rutech CEO Ma Tie delivered a keynote speech on "QSFramework SIG Contribution and Achievements Sharing". After Rutech joined the community, it initiated the establishment of QSFramework SIG. The open source project Qingshuang Framework (QSFramework) maintained by the SIG team is a new form, lightweight Quantitative, microkernel web engine. At present, the compatibility adaptation between QSFramework and the openKylin operating system has been officially completed and has been released to the openKylin 2.0 software warehouse. Sun Shengbo, an individual developer in the community, also shared the story of his association with the openKylin community and his journey of open source practice in the community. As a high school student, Sun Shengbo initiated the establishment of Cutefish SIG after joining the community, and completed the development of desktop environments such as Cutefish and Relevant components are compatible with openKylin. At the same time, it also actively participated in the community RISC-V ecological co-construction and established a FAQ SIG, which is responsible for collecting feedback from developers, enthusiasts and other users in various channels, and establishing relevant standardized processes to promote problem answers or solutions.
