According to multiple sources, Alibaba Cloud Chief Commercial Officer Cai Yinghua has resigned from Alibaba Cloud.
Tsai Yinghua was the president of Huawei's Enterprise Business Group in China. She strongly promoted the transformation of Huawei's government-enterprise business in China and led the establishment of distribution channels and partner ecosystem. Cai Yinghua airborne to Alibaba Cloud in March 2022 as senior vice president (M7 level), responsible for its global sales-related business, and is considered a key figure in helping Alibaba Cloud secure major government and enterprise customers.
However, Tsai Ying-hua was also unlucky. In less than 2 years after joining, Alibaba Cloud has changed three CEOs. Among them, Alibaba Cloud suffered a Hong Kong outage at the end of 2022, which caused Alibaba Cloud to "tumble" technically. President Zhang Jianfeng (Xingpin) was transferred to another position, and Zhang Yong, then Chairman and CEO of Alibaba's Board of Directors, concurrently served as CEO of Alibaba Cloud.
After finally adapting to the new CEO Zhang Yong, Alibaba Cloud encountered another change in September 2023. With the adjustment of Alibaba's management, Alibaba's new CEO Wu Yongming replaced Zhang Yong as Alibaba Cloud CEO.
After Wu Yongming became CEO of Alibaba and CEO of Alibaba Cloud, he proposed a new strategy for Alibaba Cloud - insisting on doing two things well: first, building the "most open cloud in the AI era" to provide a stable and efficient AI foundation for the entire industry facilities to support the intelligent transformation of all walks of life. The second is to create an open and prosperous AI ecosystem. To put it simply, it is the "AI-driven, public cloud first" strategy, which requires making trade-offs on all Alibaba Cloud products and business models, reducing project-based sales orders, and increasing investment in core public cloud products.
In November 2023, Alibaba Cloud made a series of organizational structure adjustments: including the establishment of a public cloud business division, headed by Liu Weiguang, reporting to Alibaba Cloud CEO Wu Yongming; the establishment of an infrastructure division, headed by Jiang Jiangwei, reporting to Alibaba Cloud CTO Zhou Jingren ; Established hybrid cloud business division.
The government-enterprise business cooperation direction that the former Alibaba Cloud CEO valued has been abandoned by Wu Yongming. Coupled with the changing internal policies of Alibaba Cloud, Tsai Yinghua's exit is inevitable.
In addition, as a former Huawei executive, Tsai Yinghua's Huawei culture is also very different from Alibaba's culture, resulting in acclimatization.
Many of Alibaba's current core executives have worked hard at Alibaba for more than 10 years, or even more than 20 years, and have deep foundations. As an airborne soldier, it is not easy for Cai Yinghua to open up a situation in Alibaba.
