Sponsor: China Optimal Method Coordination Method and Economic Mathematics Research Society

2. Participants

The competition is open to Chinese and overseas students (including graduate students, undergraduates and junior college students). The specific requirements are as follows:

(1) You can freely form teams to participate in the competition. Each team can have 1-3 people. All participating team members must be current students. Cross-grade, cross-major, and cross-school teams are allowed.

(2) The participating groups are determined based on the highest academic level among the team members.

(3) Each team is allowed to have at most one instructor, and the instructor must be a full-time university teacher.

3. Competition format, rules and disciplines

Competition topic : The competition is divided into preliminary and semi-finals. The competition has a unified proposition. The competition is divided into two tracks. The questions come from senior experts in the industry and practical application scenarios of enterprises and institutions;

Competition Group : The competition is divided into three competition groups: "Graduate Group", "Undergraduate Group" and "College Group";

Participation fee : Each team needs to pay an entry fee of 200 yuan, which is used for competition question collection, competition question review, technical support, etc.;

Competition registration : Participating teams can register independently on the official homepage, or the relevant person in charge of the school can organize collective registration;

Submission of works : Participating teams are required to submit results on the competition platform, and submit results, program codes and participating papers online according to the topic requirements;

Intellectual property rights : The intellectual property rights of entries (including but not limited to algorithms, models, solutions, etc.) are shared by the organizer and participants, and some solutions will be published on the competition platform with the consent of both parties;

Fair play : Contestants may cite published journal literature, but must indicate the source of the citation. It is prohibited to plagiarize other people's works in the competition. If found, the competition results will be canceled and serious action will be taken;

Organization statement : The organizing committee reserves the right to adjust and modify the competition rules, the right to determine and dispose of cheating in the competition, and the right to withdraw or refuse to award team awards that affect the organization and fairness;

List of winners : The first draft of the list of winners will be published on the official homepage. The publicity period is one week. During the publicity period, complaints and information corrections from teachers and students of each school will be accepted. The expert group is responsible for investigating, arbitrating and responding to complaints. After the announcement, the list of winners, electronic certificate query system and bonuses for the winning teams will be officially announced.

4. Time and specific arrangements

(1) Registration period from September 5 to October 27, 2023

       Competitors must follow the steps on the competition registration homepage to form a team and register.

(2) From 18:00 on October 27, 2023 to 20:00 on November 3, 2023 , preliminary stage

         1. Result data, papers and codes must be submitted online before the end of the competition. When submitting, the system will verify whether the format of the submitted data is correct;

         2. The results of the qualifying round will not affect the results of the semi-finals;

         3. Finally, the top 10% of the teams from the preliminary round will be selected to enter the semi-finals according to the group competition questions.

(3 ) 18:00 on December 8 , 2023 - 20:00 on December 15 , 2023 , semi-final stage

        The semi-finals will be a unified proposition, and the background of the question will not be changed, but the questions and data may be changed. The contestants will answer the questions remotely through the Internet, and they will be ranked according to the group and question.

(4) Gold, Silver and Bronze Award Defense

The top 12 teams in the semi-finals (regardless of categories or competition questions) will enter the gold, silver and bronze awards defense session, and the defense will be conducted online or offline. The defense will determine 1 team with gold medals, 2 teams with silver medals, and 5 teams with bronze medals (regardless of categories or competition questions).

(5) In January 2024 , the competition results , certificates, etc. will be announced .

         1. Announce the first draft of the list of winners;

         2. Inquiry on objections to public announcement results;

         3. The final list of winners is announced.

6. Evaluation standards

The expert group will evaluate from four aspects:

(1) Contest papers

Based on the problem, prepare a paper to describe the project. The abstract part of the paper needs to briefly outline the core ideas and effects of the model algorithm. The main text part needs to elaborate on the details of the model algorithm, solution process, results and corresponding references.

(2) Project completion

The complete code matching the solution can be code in Python, Matlab, C++, Java and other languages, with detailed operating instructions and source code attached.

(3) Model generalization performance

The accuracy, recall rate and other assessment indicators that are closely related to the actual background of the question are verified by the unpublished test data set.

(4) Innovation

Possess innovative system analysis and problem-solving ideas, innovative algorithm design, interdisciplinary application capabilities, etc.

7. Competition rewards

(1) Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards

Selection from all participating teams (regardless of categories or competition topics):

Gold Award 1 team (bonus 10,000 yuan before tax)

Silver Award 2 teams (bonus 5,000 yuan before tax)

5 Bronze Award teams (bonus 2,000 yuan before tax)

(2)Award evaluation

The competition groups are selected according to the competition questions:

First Prize (5%)

Second Prize (15%)

Third Prize (30%)

Several prizes for successful participation

Awarded certificates for the "MathorCup College Mathematical Modeling Challenge - Big Data Competition".

The top 10% of the teams in the preliminary round will advance to the semi-finals, and the top 50% of the teams in the semi-finals will be selected as the first prize.

(3) Excellent instructors and excellent organizational units
