[Summary] 2023 Mathematical Modeling Contest! Closing!

This year's US competition is from 2.17 to 2.21. After the epidemic was released this semester, the control was not so strict. Our team arrived at the school one day in advance to prepare for the competition on the 17th.

time flow

When we first got 6 questions, the three of us looked at two questions one by one, and each of us chose a question that he thought had ideas from the two questions, choosing three out of six, two out of three, and one out of two. Question D and question E competed, but the data of question E was too difficult to find, so I gave up decisively after searching for an hour or two.

This year's topics except for C are all related to the environment. It can be said that this is the first year of environmental topics. After reading questions A and B, I found it difficult to get started, and the data of E and F were hard to find, so I finally chose question D.

Question D is to explore the relationship network of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and it is easy to find data resources on the Internet. When the five questions were discussed at the beginning, there were three questions. I thought it felt good, so I slowly changed to read and do it.

FAQ

Question one

We think that if we want to build a relationship network, we need to find the relationship between pairs of 17 SDGs, and use the Pearson coefficient as the correlation coefficient between pairs of indicators. Then use Echarts to draw a nice picture.

question two

Question 2 discusses priority indicators for building a social network. We use the three centralities of SNA (Social Network Relationship Method) to measure the importance of SDGs in the relationship diagram, and thus select priority indicators.

question three

Question 3 Assume that a sustainable development goal is realized. We start to think that there is a dynamic relationship between the goals. After one goal is achieved, there will be a circular feedback (promotion or suppression) to other goals. Search for a document using a moving window cannot be realized), it is a bit difficult for us to reproduce it. The teacher gave another idea, remove the goal that has been achieved, and regard this operation as the realization of a sustainable development goal. In this way, problem three is transformed into removing each indicator to see the social network generated by it, that is, removing one indicator and then doing problems two and three again.

question four

I was solely responsible for this question, but the final implementation effect was not good. The model itself was not well understood, the resulting picture was also very low, and the explanation part was a bit far-fetched. A generalized additive model is used to discuss the impact of external factors on the relationship network.

Question five

We view problem five as a specialization of our previous four problems. Questions 1 to 4 are generalizations of the network, and question 5 is to apply it in practice, specialize the network, and apply it in practice.

Paper submission! Long live the teacher!

On the 20th, I finished writing the English version of the thesis overnight. I took a rest in the computer room from 2:00 to 4:00. The teacher got up after 4:00 and kept correcting us, tense issues, chart issues, format issues, anyway. Everything that could go wrong has gone wrong. When we changed from 4 o'clock to 7 o'clock, we were already flustered, afraid that we would not be able to hand in, but the teacher continued to correct us until 8:30, and finally we were sure that there was no problem before we panicked Hand it in indiscriminately.

to reflect

This time, the real deal is my own realization of the problem. I still feel a little sloppy about the problem I solved. I have been in the process of rushing to make it. I didn’t really understand the problem before going to the problem. Combined with the proposal, I feel like running the train all the way. ,well. I also feel the same way about the completion of the thesis. If it weren't for the teacher who didn't know how to hand over a thesis full of loopholes, he would still be complacent.
Let's encourage each other!
