1. Exploratory analysis

Exploratory analysis refers to the process of preliminary exploration and understanding of data sets in data analysis. Its main goal is to identify patterns, trends, outliers, and potential relationships in data through visualization and descriptive statistics, as well as to understand the associations and interactions between variables.

In exploratory analysis, a variety of methods are often used, including data visualization (such as histograms, scatter plots, box plots, etc.) and statistical descriptions (such as mean, median, variance, etc.). Through these methods, we can observe the distribution of data, the relationship between variables, the presence of outliers, etc., and conduct further analysis and interpretation based on these observations.

Exploratory analysis helps us understand the characteristics of the data set, discover relationships between variables, discover potential patterns and trends, and provide guidance for subsequent data modeling and analysis. It is an important first step in data analysis and requires full exploration and understanding during the data exploration phase to ensure the quality and accuracy of the data.

2.SPSS implementation

(1) Open the "data4-3" data file, select "Analysis" - "Descriptive Statistics" - "Exploration", and the dialog box as shown in the figure will pop up:

(2) Select the variables in the variable list on the left to the right as shown in the figure, and then select "Both" in the output options below.

 (3) Click the Statistics button to pop up the Exploration: Statistics dialog box, check the corresponding options as shown in the figure, and click Continue

(4) Click Explore: Diagram dialog box, check the following diagram options, and then click Continue

 (5) Click the "Options" button to pop up the "Exploration: Options" dialog box, check the options as shown in the figure below, and click Continue

 (6) After completing all settings, click the OK button.

3. Result analysis
