1. Frequency analysis
Frequency analysis is a statistical method used to determine the number of times different values of each variable occur in a given data set. By calculating the frequency of each value, we can understand the distribution and frequency of occurrence of the variable.
In frequency analysis, we can use various charts and graphs to represent the frequency distribution of data, such as bar charts, pie charts, histograms, etc. These charts can help us intuitively understand the distribution characteristics and main values of the data.
By conducting frequency analysis, we can quickly understand the basic situation of the data and have an intuitive understanding of the characteristics and distribution of the data set, thereby providing a reference for further data analysis and decision-making.
2.SPSS operation implementation
1. Open the data file "data4_1", as shown in the figure below. This data file is the final exam scores of Chinese, mathematics, and chemistry for students in a class in a certain university. Next, perform frequency analysis.
2. Select "Analysis" - "Descriptive Statistics" - "Frequency", the "Frequency" dialog box will pop up, then select a subject and move it to "Variables", select Mathematics here, and then as shown in the figure below
3. Click the "Statistics" button, the "Statistics" dialog box will pop up, check the options as shown below, and then click Continue
4. Click the "Chart" button to pop up the "Frequency: Chart" dialog box, check the corresponding checkbox as shown below, and then click Continue
5. Click the "Format" button to pop up the "Frequency: Format" dialog box, check the corresponding options as shown below, and then click Continue
6. After completing all settings, click OK to get the following results:
Finally, simply analyze the data based on the resulting chart.
