common problem

1. Who will be eligible for funding?

Anyone can apply for funding, including individuals, teams, nonprofits and companies.

2. How long does the assessment process take?

Assessment times will vary depending on the number of applications, but generally it takes approximately 4 weeks from application to final decision, with an additional 2 weeks required for the compliance process for accepted projects.

3. How does the Sui Foundation communicate with applicants?

All correspondence is via email, using the email address provided on the application form.

4. How do I know which type of funding I should apply for?

Please read the descriptions and criteria above to determine which grant is best for your project. If you're unsure, apply for a builder grant and the Sui Foundation will route your application to the correct review team.

5. How do I apply?

Please complete our online application: Sui Foundation Grant Funding Application

6. What are the qualifications for funding?

Project owners must pass KYC and/or KYB to receive funding. Additionally, they must sign an online funding agreement that outlines the terms between the Sui Foundation and the project owner.

7. How much is the general grant amount?

Most grants average between $30,000 and $40,000. However, there is no minimum or maximum amount limit. Projects are evaluated based on requirements related to deliverables. Academic research awards are funded at a fixed amount of $25,000.

8. How will the grant money be distributed?

By default all recipients agree to pay in $SUI.

9. Can individuals or organizations from any country apply?

We are currently unable to accept projects from the following countries: North Korea, Iran, Cuba, Syria, Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Russia/Ukraine, and other potentially restricted areas.

10. Can I apply for multiple grants using different project proposals?

Applicants may apply to different projects at the same time, but reviewers and committees will consider team size and the ability to execute multiple programs simultaneously.

11. Are there any restrictions on the use of grant funds?

Grant funds must be used to achieve mutually agreed-upon milestones in the funding agreement. The Foundation may need to conduct an audit of the use of grant funds to ensure that proceeds and milestones are used in compliance with the terms of the grant.

12. What reporting and accountability requirements are there if my project is selected?

If your project is selected, you will be required to submit monthly reports and provide milestone information. These reporting and accountability requirements ensure regular updates on project progress and demonstrate completion of key milestones. Monthly reports should outline project activities, achievements, challenges, and noteworthy progress during the period. Milestone evidence includes tangible documentation or proof that milestones specified in the project proposal have been completed. These requirements help track project progress and ensure transparent use of grant funds.

13. If accepted, how will the grant be disbursed?

Projects will be allocated funding based on milestones. First, projects will receive an initial amount of funding, with additional funding available upon successful completion of milestones. Foundations may need to audit the use of grant funds to ensure that proceeds are used in compliance with the terms of the grant.

14. Can I apply for this funding program if my project is in the early stages of development?

Yes, the Sui Foundation welcomes early-stage projects. However, please note that even if the project is still in its early stages, our evaluation criteria will take into account the feasibility, potential impact and clarity of your project proposal. Be sure to provide as much relevant information as possible about the project goals, roadmap, and expected results.

15. If my project is an existing blockchain project that needs funding to expand or improve, can I submit a proposal?

Yes, we are willing to support projects that are running on other blockchains and exploring integration with the Sui blockchain.

16. Can I submit a project proposal in collaboration with other individuals or organizations?

Yes, we encourage community/ecosystem participants to collaborate on the project.

17. What happens if my project is not selected for funding?

It's a shame if your project isn't selected for a grant. But remember, not receiving funding doesn’t necessarily mean your project has no value. This may be due to factors such as budget constraints, the alignment of the project with specific goals, or the level of competition. We encourage you to refine your project and explore other avenues to realize your project or plan.

18. If my initial application is unsuccessful, can I reapply for a funding program in the future?

Yes, you can usually reapply for funding in the future even if your initial application is unsuccessful. We understand that projects will continue to evolve and improve over time, and we encourage applicants to refine their proposals based on feedback or lessons learned from the initial application.
