In 2003, the second-generation resident ID cards were issued in a centralized manner. At that time, as a second-generation witness portrait collection manufacturer, I participated in the production of second-generation ID card photos across the country. Because the second-generation ID card photos are collected on a large scale, the collection standards are quite strict. They can be simply summarized into several characteristics: standardization , seriousness , consistency , and aesthetics .
At that time, our second-generation certificate collection system was widely used in second-generation certificate collection work across the country. Due to the characteristics of the certificate production equipment, strict color control must be carried out before certificate production, so some certificate production centers used their core technologies to Perform photo restoration in batches before issuing certificates. A large proportion of the ID cards we have today are made using the technology of the time.
As the second-generation ID card collection peak passed, I wondered if the concept of second-generation ID card production could be applied to other ID photos, so the software ID Card Star was born.
After 3 years, Certificate Star finally released the XE version, and we saw a lot of new highlights. Please share some stories you encountered while developing this new version, and which one do you think is the main feature of this version?
From License Star 1.0 to 7.0, basically the software functions are mature. I would like to thank all users for their love and support! There have been some major changes in the application in the past few years, which prompted me to make up my mind to further upgrade the software.
First of all, the habit of making personal ID photos has changed: in the past, most people were used to going to photo studios to take ID photos, because photo studios have better shooting equipment, environment and professional photographers. In recent years, the camera functions of mobile phones have become more and more powerful, and many young people hope to complete this process at home , which also gave me the idea of upgrading the version.
At the same time , the development of AI technology and related image processing technology have made a qualitative leap, and complex background replacement can also be better solved, which also created conditions for this upgrade.
So I think the main function of the XE version is still the blessing of AI, but it is not just in one place, but goes deep into many functions in the version.
Many users are curious, why is it named XE version? It wasn’t version 7 before, so why not use the number 8 that Chinese people like?
Starting from this version, it will be defined as the XE version, and the version naming method of XE1, XE2... will continue. The reason is that starting from this version, the software will focus on introducing AI functions, which is a qualitative leap. And as a software developer, I will work hard to make this software as extreme as possible (Extreme, abbreviated as XE), so I use the XE version number.

Certificate Star will provide security protection function for portraits, that is, encryption function. There is a difference between visual resemblance and biometric resemblance. Sometimes two people look similar, but their biological features are not consistent. Conversely, two people have similar facial features, but look completely different.
In daily life, people pay more attention to the visual category and rarely consider facial biometrics. And biometrics are very important for security protection.
I don’t know if you have noticed that there are a series of requirements during the second-generation ID card shooting process: makeup is not allowed, hair cannot cover the forehead, beautification is not allowed, etc. This is to allow relevant departments to better obtain facial biometrics. On the other hand, it would be more dangerous if the ID photo is leaked publicly without being encrypted.
2. More AI functions
As the number of individual users increases, the randomness of ID photo production will increase. It is very important to ensure that the user produces a fully qualified ID photo, such as hair covering the eyebrows, unnatural expression, side face, etc. To achieve this, I think we need to pay attention to two aspects: one is detection, and the other is automatic processing. These require the support of AI functions and artificial intelligence, so user needs often match technological development, which does not mean that technology is far ahead and divorced from reality.
