[Intranet Penetration] Remotely access local hard disk files from the public network

Remotely access local hard disk files from the public network [Intranet penetration]

Preface

With the popularity of the cloud concept, many companies use cloud storage technology to save office files. At the same time, many individual users also feel the convenience brought by cloud storage, making the concept of cloud storage the most popular for a while. Due to the sensitivity of data, frequent cloud storage data leakage incidents and expensive cloud space rental fees, many companies have given up on public cloud storage. However, the benefits of cloud storage of data are difficult to give up, which makes the private cloud model gradually become popular. The price of small cloud storage devices represented by Synology NAS has been rising, which is the best proof. In fact, if you want to carry out medium-scale data cloud storage, you do not have to buy expensive equipment. With just a few simple software, our personal computer can be turned into a convenient cloud data search and download device, thus Save a lot of money. Today we will introduce to you how to use cpolar and Everything to create a low-cost and lightweight search and download platform.

1. Download cpolar and Everything software

First, let’s understand the functions of these two softwares. Everything is essentially a small but powerful file searcher. We can search for files on the local computer like a search engine, and the software also provides a simple http service and designated port output function. cpolar is a powerful intranet penetration software that can establish and maintain multiple data tunnels of different protocols, such as http, https, tcp, ftp, etc. By combining the two, one of the core functions of cloud storage can be realized, which is to retrieve data files located on intranet devices in a public Internet environment. Of course, due to the lack of Everything software functions, it is not yet possible to read online and upload files back to LAN devices.

To build this minimalist version of the cloud storage platform, we first need to download Everything and Cpolar. After the software installer is downloaded, double-click the installer to install it yourself.

After the software installation is completed, we first open Everything and set the output port of the software. In the taskbar above the main interface of Everything, find the "Tools" option, click it and click "Options" in the drop-down menu to find the http settings.

3. Set http server port

In the http settings, we first check "Enable http server" and then set the http server port. There are not many requirements for setting the server port, as long as it is an unoccupied port; then you need to set the http server user name and password, which can be set according to your own preferences; finally, for the convenience of our actual use, it is best Also check "Allow http file downloads", otherwise the files searched remotely will not be available. After completing the above settings, you can click the "OK" button below to complete the http settings of Everything software.

When saving the http settings of Everything software, the system security prompt may pop up. Here we can click "Allow access".

4. Enter cpolar settings

After completing the settings of Everything, we enter the settings of cpolar. Since we do not want the Everything query and download tunnel that we have set up so hard to be used only temporarily, it is necessary to establish a data tunnel that can be accessed stably for a long time.

First, we enter the official website of cpolar (you can enter cpolar in the search bar of the search engine to find the official website, or you can find the shortcut key to directly connect to the official website in the Web-UI interface of cpolar)

The first is "region", here we can fill it in according to the actual place of use, in this example we choose China VIP; then there is "secondary domain name", here we can fill in any information such as company name, department name, project name, etc. However, the reserved second-level domain name will be displayed on the final data tunnel address URL, so it is best not to fill it in randomly. Here we fill in Everything; the last is the "Description" field. This field is mainly convenient for users to distinguish this second-level domain name from other second-level domain names, so they can fill in content that is easy to identify. Here we fill in the "Remote" field. Adjust data."

After completing filling in these contents, you can click the "Save" button on the right. Create a blank data tunnel with no tunnel entrance or exit configured.

After the blank data tunnel is set up, we can return to the cpolar client on the local computer and set the entrance and exit for this blank data tunnel. Open cpolar's Web-UI interface on your local computer, find "Create Tunnel" under "Tunnel Management" on the left side of the main interface, fill in the secondary subdomain name information we have reserved into the tunnel you intend to create, and at the same time Also set the entrance and exit for the empty data tunnel.

5. Generate a data tunnel connecting the public network to the local intranet

First, we enter the "Tunnel Name". Since this field will not be displayed, you can customize it. Here we enter the "Remote Data Adjustment"; for the "Protocol" and "Port" fields, select "http" and "http" respectively. "82" (Port 82 was previously set for Everything and is also the exit of the data tunnel. It needs to be filled in according to the actual set port number); in the next "Domain Name Type" field, we select "Second-level Subdomain Name". After selecting the second-level subdomain name, the "Sub Domain" column will appear below. Here we fill in the second-level subdomain name reserved on the cpolar official website (that is, which reserved data tunnel is selected); the subsequent "Region" field, You can fill it in according to the actual area of use. Here we choose "China VIP". After completing these settings, you can click the "Create" button below to generate an intranet penetration data tunnel that can connect from the public Internet to the local Everything software.

At this time, we can click on the "Online Tunnel List" page under the "Status" item on the left side of the cpolar main interface to find the entrance to this data tunnel, which is the public Internet address, so that we can easily query and download the local computer on computers outside the LAN. documentation on.

Summarize

As can be seen from the above introduction, it is not complicated to establish a data platform that can remotely call and download local data, and is very suitable for small businesses and private use. Of course, establishing such a remote data calling platform is only one application scenario of the powerful function of cpolar. The intranet penetration data tunnel established by cpolar can be used in more application scenarios when combined with other software. If you have any questions about the use of cpolar, please contact us and we will provide you with the assistance we can. Of course, you are also welcome to join cpolar’s official VIP group and explore cpolar’s unlimited potential together.
