GAIR 2023 Singapore: When AI Blooms

On August 14, 2023, the seventh GAIR Global Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Conference kicked off at the Orchard Hotel in Singapore.

The conference opened a total of 10 themed forums, focusing on the transformation and innovation in AIGC, Infra, life sciences, education, SaaS, web3, cross-border e-commerce and other fields in the era of big models. This is the first top-level AI forum in China to go overseas, and it is also a cross-border spillover of China’s artificial intelligence influence.

Using machinery to solve difficult problems is the fundamental driving force for human beings to pursue technology. In August 1900, at the International Congress of Mathematicians, David Hilbert proposed 23 mathematical problems that mathematicians in the new century should strive to solve. As the leader of the Göttingen School who is the world's academic leader, this master-level mathematician wrote in the 10th question, "Is there a mechanized operation process that has a solution to any Diophantine equation?"

This question is extremely far-reaching and too complex. Here we use a less rigorous way to understand "Can machines solve complex mathematical problems like humans?" More than 30 years after this question was raised, on the eve of World War II, the British The genius mathematician Turing further proposed the thought experiment of "Turing machine". This thought experiment was later considered the origin of the discipline of artificial intelligence, and Turing was therefore called the father of artificial intelligence. Of course, this may just be a beautiful legend in the scientific community, but this thought experiment is deeply rooted in people's hearts and has been shown repeatedly in real life and literary and artistic works.

Zhang Yaqin, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and dean of the Intelligent Industry Research Institute of Tsinghua University, once stated in public that ChatGPT is the first intelligent agent in human history to pass the Turing test. The future is here, and the era of general artificial intelligence has arrived.

This year's conference continued the previous high-level and luxurious lineup. A total of 10 themed forums were set up, focusing on changes and innovations in popular fields such as AIGC, Infra, life sciences, education, SaaS, web3, and cross-border e-commerce in the era of large-scale models.

As the first AI summit in China to go overseas, here we will see the Asian debut of Microsoft's top scientist after leaving office, the Azure AI core scientist talks about the integration of cloud and intelligence, and the 92-year-old father of modern marketing talks about the future in his eyes Marketing, the creators of large-scale models of Internet giants gathered in the Lion City to share implementation rules, and more than a dozen academicians and top conference chairmen talked about AI 3.0, making this day a day worth savoring again and again.

The meaning of GAIR's existence is to let various opportunities and coincidences in the history of AI intertwine and collide with new ideas and stories.
