As a Singaporean, Mr. Zhang Rui'an came to China in 2004, founded Espressif Systems in 2008, and has lived in Shanghai for nearly 20 years.
The award recognizes Mr. Zhang Rui'an's outstanding leadership and dedication in driving the development of the Internet of Things industry. His far-sighted strategic vision, relentless pursuit of innovation, and emphasis on community cooperation have led Espressif to become a world-leading provider of IoT solutions.

Under the leadership of Mr. Rui'an Zhang, we integrated radio frequency (RF) and microcontroller unit (MCU) on a single CMOS silicon chip. This technology is an important milestone in the IoT industry, not only creating revolutionary chips for us, but also becoming the gold standard for energy-efficient and cost-effective IoT solutions. Released in 2014, ESP8266 is the industry's first chip integrating radio, power amplifier, low noise amplifier, radio frequency switch, power management unit, baseband and MCU. Since then, we have continued to introduce innovative products to lead the development of the IoT industry, such as the revolutionary ESP32 integrating Wi-Fi and dual-mode Bluetooth, self-developed RISC-V architecture, AI instruction extension, Wi-Fi 6, Thread and Matter support and more.
