WasmEdge invites you to WasmCon: Keynotes, Tech Talks and Workshops

Find WasmEdge at WasmCon: Keynotes, Tech Talks, and Workshops, Lots of Events

The highly anticipated WasmCon technical conference will be held from September 6th to 8th, and the conference will focus on WebAssembly (Wasm) technology! The WasmEdge community is actively involved! Our maintainers and community contributors will be giving multiple talks and technical workshops on topics such as high-performance networking, AI inference, LLM, serverless functions, and microservices.

If you are interested in Wasm technology and its business application scenarios, whether you are in Seattle or watching online, be sure not to miss these talks!

Workshop: Using WasmEdge to Implement High-Performance Network Applications

This workshop is sponsored by CNCF. Thank you CNCF!

According to the CNCF Wasm Survey, the two most requested features of Wasm are network support. In this hands-on tutorial, we'll cover two ways of networking support in Wasm: through the host application framework or through WASI-like extensions. Attendees will work through multiple exercises together and learn how to create high-performance non-blocking web applications and microservices in Wasm.

Rust Global: The Role of Wasm and Rust in LLM Applications

Rust Global is the first conference hosted by the Rust Foundation, dedicated to the application of Rust in cutting-edge scenarios around the world.

In this talk, we will discuss how to create Rust applications that run inference on existing LLM models in the Wasm sandbox, and use public and private LLM APIs to create LLM plugins and end-user applications such as chatbots. Compared to VM or Docker based solutions, Wasm applications are lighter weight, faster and can be easily embedded into LLM infrastructure.

WasmCon keynote

CNCF CTO Chris Aniszczyk will release a new Wasm ecological Landscape in his keynote speech. The Landscape contains 119 Wasm-related items in 11 categories. The total value of the projects it covers amounts to $5.94 billion. WasmEdge community member Vivian Hu is the lead author and coordinator of the Landscape.

WasmCon Talk: Getting Started with AI and WebAssembly

This is a joint presentation with Angel De Miguel from VMware.

In this talk, Angel and Michael will dive into WASI-NN, a proposed standard for AI inference in Wasm applications. After the talk, you will be able to build and deploy your first AI/ML application using Wasm.

WasmCon talk: Wasm in ByteFaaS

This speech was given by ByteDance R&D Engineer Wilson Wang.

Wilson will introduce the Wasm on Ray project and how it drives ByteDance's FaaS/serverless service. The project uses WasmEdge as a runtime for serverless functions.

When: September 7, 2023 11:00am - 11:35am Where: Grand Ballroom E Details: https://sched.co/1PkGF

WasmCon talk: Wasm microservices with Dapr support

This is a joint presentation with Dagrid CTO and co-founder Yaron Schneider, who is also the co-creator of CNCF projects Dapr and KEDA.

Yaron and Michael will discuss why and how to use Dapr in Wasm microservices. The Dapr community and the WasmEdge community will jointly release a new Dapr SDK, which allows microservices developed in Rust to access more than 100 Dapr sidecar services while compiling them into Wasm and deploying them in WasmEdge.

WasmCon Talk: Today and the Future of Kotlin/Wasm

The talk was given by Zalim Bashorov, Team Leader of JetBrains.

Kotlin is a popular modern programming language traditionally used on the client side. Kotlin/Wasm enables developers to write efficient and portable code that can be executed in any environment that supports Wasm. This is an important technology that will boost the adoption of Kotlin on the server side. WasmEdge is one of the first Wasm runtimes to support the Wasm GC specification, a prerequisite for running compiled Kotlin Wasm bytecode.

WasmCon Talk: Developing Wasm Applications with Docker

The talk was presented by Docker CTO Justin Cormack and Angel De Miguel from VMware.

Docker Wasm allows developers to run Wasm workloads as containers in Docker Desktop and CLI tools. WasmEdge is the first Wasm runtime supported by Docker Wasm.

About WasmCon

WasmCon is the premier conference for technology developers and users interested in exploring the potential of WebAssembly. The two-day conference will bring together leading experts, developers and users within the Wasm community.

WasmCon features a variety of talks, workshops, and keynotes, all dedicated to providing attendees with the latest insights and best practices in Wasm. Whether attendees are interested in performance optimizations, security considerations, or integrating Wasm into existing applications, WasmCon has something for everyone.
