Installation notes: macOS 14 Beta version virtual machine installation cannot connect to the network solution

Apple officially released a beta version of the latest version of macOS (build number: 23A5257q), named Sonoma. Friends who like early adopters are trying its new features, but not all friends' machines are Mac. And if you try the real machine, there will be certain risks, it must be a beta version, and the stability is not yet known. So what is the best way to try early adopters - of course, the virtual machine is installed.

 The installation of a virtual machine can avoid and solve many problems encountered in real opportunities. Among the common virtual machines, VMware software is the best. After all, they are commercial, and the later maintenance and powerful functions are unparalleled.

 As for the detailed process of installing in VMware, I won’t talk about it here. I think most of my friends will know it. Friends who really don’t know it can browse my other related articles or pay attention to [Shilin Studio]’s WeChat official account, and reply “VM "Tutorial" or "Virtual Machine Tutorial" to view related graphic tutorials.

 What I want to talk about today is that after installing macOS 14 Beta in the VMware virtual machine, the network cannot be connected. No matter what the connection mode is, the network cannot be connected.

It seems that this situation has not been found during the installation of previous versions. It seems that this kind of network unavailability will be encountered when installing from the version of macOS Ventura 13.x.

The solution is actually very simple (this method is applicable to Sonoma 14 and Ventura 13 versions):

1. Close the macOS system in the VMware software.

 2. Open the configuration file of your macOS system installation in VMware, the file with the ".vmx" extension.

 3. Search for "ethernet0.virtualDev", change its value to "vmxnet3", save

ethernet0.virtualDev = "vmxnet3"

4. Restart the macOS system in the VMware software. Perfect solution!
