Espressif launches ESP ZeroCode console

Espressif’s ESP ZeroCode console is a web application. Users only need to click the mouse, describe the product type, function and hardware configuration they want to create, and then quickly generate Matter-certified firmware according to their own needs, and run it on the hardware. Try it out. During the trial process, if there is anything wrong, you can return to the page to adjust at any time. Click ESP ZeroCode Console to create a new product and start a wonderful journey!

If satisfied with the product created, the user can simply place an order, order and have their ESP ZeroCode module delivered to their door. It is worth mentioning that before shipping, the ESP ZeroCode module has been pre-loaded with firmware and other configurations to become a fully functional Matter device component. Customers can save costs by not having to deal with complex customization and programming processes.

With the help of ESP ZeroCode, manufacturers can skip the development and maintenance stages in the traditional product life cycle, and directly enter the product manufacturing stage and release it to the market. Espressif will continue to maintain the firmware and provide the latest updates and security fixes to ensure that the actual running device is always safe and reliable, and complies with Matter certification.

Ultimate End User Experience

All ESP ZeroCode modules are Matter certified and can support any Matter ecosystem of the user's choice. Users do not need to download additional applications when using the device on the above platforms. Through the apps of Matter ecosystem suppliers, or the voice assistants of these platforms, you can directly configure and control the device to get the ultimate product experience.

excellent value for money

Due to the compatibility of ESP ZeroCode modules with the Matter standard, the direct and indirect costs of the product are reduced.

Direct cost savings — Matter-compatible devices don’t need to be connected to the cloud all the time, and can be controlled remotely through ecosystem hub devices such as Amazon Echo, Google Nest hubs, Apple HomePod or Apple TV. In addition, the voice assistant uses the Matter protocol in the local network, and there is no need to complete the messaging through the cloud.

Save on overhead costs—no need to develop and maintain mobile phone apps or voice assistant skills. The process of development, maintenance, certification, and equipment manufacturing of Matter-compatible firmware usually increases product costs, but in the ZeroCode solution provided by Espressif, the above-mentioned processes are all completed by Espressif.

Minimalist Manufacturing Process

Before shipping, ESP ZeroCode modules are pre-loaded with firmware and other details required for configuration. Normally, the manufacturing process of device certificate (DAC), QR code, unique device identification and other details is long, but in ESP ZeroCode module, these details are pre-configured. In addition, when configuring device certificates, it usually needs to cooperate with certain signing services and security manufacturing settings, otherwise the cost and configuration time will increase significantly. And as long as you choose the ZeroCode module, the above troubles will no longer exist.

With the pre-configuration provided by ZeroCode, simply mount the module on the PCB, attach the corresponding QR code label, and the device is ready to use. Espressif can handle everything else for you.

Product Identification

The ESP ZeroCode module has passed the Matter certification, please use the following logo on the product package (the actual logo may vary) to inform consumers: the product in the package complies with the Matter standard and has higher device interoperability.

Certified ESP ZeroCode modules work closely with Matter ecosystem suppliers to achieve a truly extreme user experience. Users who select "Works with Apple Home" and "Works with Google Home" may use the additional logo on their product packaging, provided the product complies with the guidelines highlighted in the respective programs.

Safe and stable, worry-free maintenance

By default, ESP ZeroCode modules come with the highest level of security such as secure boot and flash encryption.

Additionally, the firmware is closely synced with the Matter-certified open-source repository. Espressif will provide continuous maintenance for the ESP ZeroCode module for a period of 3 years. During these 3 years, Espressif will continuously upgrade the OTA firmware for the module and deploy the latest fixes and updates for the device as soon as possible.

Supported Device Types

As of today, the ESP ZeroCode website supports a wide variety of devices, including light bulbs, backplates, spotlights, desk lamps, LED strips, switches, sockets, and shade controllers. The above devices can be connected via Wi-Fi or 802.15.4 based wireless communication technology/Thread protocol stack.

Espressif is continuously working on extending ZeroCode support to support more configurable device functions and device types. If you are looking for support for a specific device type, please send an email to [email protected] to make a request and Espressif will be happy to help you.
