SUSE launches beta program

Guided reading As part of the upcoming SUSE  Linux  Enterprise 15 operating system release, SUSE recently announced a public beta program for its SUSE Linux Enterprise high-performance computing (HPC) product.

While SUSE is working hard on a SUSE Linux Enterprise 15 major release, they recently announced that the SUSE Linux Enterprise High Performance Computing (HPC) platform is now a dedicated SUSE Linux Enterprise product based on SUSE Linux Enterprise 15, available for 64-bit public beta and ARM 64-bit architecture.

SUSE Linux Enterprise 15 will introduce many new features and improvements, including a brand new installer that provides a unified method to install one of the supported SUSE Linux Enterprise products, including the SUSE Linux Enterprise High Performance Computing Module, which Modules come with a set of components used in high performance computing environments.

Among them, we can mention workload managers, cluster monitoring and management software, multiple MPI implementations that can be selected by environment modules, environment module systems, computing libraries for environment modules, and development and benchmarking tools.

"The SLE HPC 15 option will set up installations including HPC modules and let users choose between system roles customized for HPC, which will simplify development, control, and installation of compute nodes," SUSE's SUSE Beta Program and SDK project manager Vincent Moutoussamy said.

SUSE Linux Enterprise is used in half of the first 100 HPC systems

The SUSE Linux Enterprise High Performance Computing (HPC) platform is designed to provide customers with cadence-free kernels for significant power savings, automated Non-Uniform Memory Access (NUMA) balancing, and real-time kernel patching to speed up synchronization of HPC clusters.

These and many other unique features make SUSE Linux Enterprise HPC the premier choice for high performance computing, SUSE Linux Enterprise is used by half of the world's top 100 HPC systems, including major companies such as Intel, AMD, NVIDIA, Fujitsu, HPE/SGI , NEC, Mellanox, Qlogic and Cray.

SUSE Linux Enterprise HPC is now open for public beta, allowing anyone on x86_64 (64-bit) or AArch64 (ARM 64-bit) to request a beta registration key for the upcoming SUSE Linux Enterprise Server HPC 15 release.
