From the data released by Canalys, we can see that Samsung is far ahead with a 21% share; Apple ranks second with a 17% share, and the combined share of the two reaches 38%. Comparing the data of the same period last year, it can also be seen that the market shares of the two mobile phone companies have remained stable.

Among Chinese mobile phone companies, Xiaomi ranked third. Xiaomi’s market share in the quarter was 13%, down 1 percentage point from 14% in the same period last year. The market share of Xiaomi mobile phones has declined, mainly due to the decline in mobile phone shipments in India, its largest overseas market. Due to India's continuous suppression of Xiaomi, Xiaomi has laid off employees in India, reducing the number of employees in the Indian company from 1,500 to 1,000.

The fourth place is OPPO. OPPO has become the best performer among the top three Chinese mobile phone companies, and its market share has remained stable. However, its market share is only 10%, which is far behind Samsung and Apple; vivo is ranked fifth, and its market share has also declined, from 9% in the same period last year to 8%.

In the past ten years, Chinese mobile phone brands have gained market share for many consecutive years. They have conquered cities in the global market, which has brought a huge impact to Samsung and Apple.

Among the Chinese mobile phone brands, the best mobile phone brand of the year was Huawei. Huawei's mobile phone shipments in the global mobile phone market once surpassed Samsung in the second quarter of 2020 to become the world's largest mobile phone brand. It also occupied 17% of the high-end mobile phone market.

Then Xiaomi mobile phone took over and became the leader of Chinese mobile phones. Xiaomi mobile phone is the best internationalized brand among Chinese mobile phone brands. Its overseas shipments accounted for 70% of its overseas shipments.

The setbacks of Chinese mobile phones in overseas markets have allowed Samsung to stabilize its position. As a result, Samsung has secured the number one position in the global mobile phone market for 11 consecutive years (although Huawei briefly surpassed Samsung in the second quarter of 2020, Samsung will still take the first place in 2020). Now the shipments of the Chinese mobile phone market have been declining year after year, and its share of global mobile phone market shipments has dropped from 33% to about 25% today.

Chinese mobile phone brands are now undergoing adjustments, and the threat to Samsung and Apple has decreased. They need to find a new way out before they can launch an offensive against Samsung and Apple again. In the global mobile phone market, Nokia has dominated the global mobile phone market for 14 consecutive years, and Samsung can break Nokia's record if it maintains it for another 2 years. From the current point of view, Samsung has great hopes of maintaining its 14 consecutive years of dominance in the global mobile phone market.
